Not pp, but, um, he's pre-k - how much of a profile are you expecting??

It would be the parents’ profile.

Plus the URM factor, Y/N.

What is the URM factor?

I guess going to Beauvoir. Not sure but seem like this year K for Beauvoir is easier to get into than previous years.

Did you get a no or a WL?

Rejected to both Sidwell and GDS... not even on waitlist

Out top choice was GDS

Do you know how many families would love to get into beauvoir and didn’t? And now you’ll deign to come? I hope you don’t. You sound like a real jerk. Beauvoir is a nice community. Hate to hear you might be coming.

It might have a nice community but you don’t seem ti be very nice. What is your problem?

I totally get it.

And to the whack jobs out there- I didn’t see anything insulting in how this person feels. Fact- Beauvoir and GDS are equally awesome but TOTALLY different. We applied to both as well, hoping for one over the other.

I totally agree. To begin with: religion.

My understanding is that it’s because it’s really, really small. Fewer spaces = more that are waitlisted.

But note that Maret is waitlisting kids who got in Sidwell and GDS. So, they are doing very well in terms of the quality of the applicants.

Not necessarily. Last year they gave priority to legacy.

No... why don't you tell us? I heard that Beauvoir was much easier this year, as well.

I know three great families just from today who didn’t get in. That doesn’t provide numbers, but neither does your post. What your post does do, though, is make some great people who already feel sad feel worse. And based on what? What you “heard.”

People on this board are unkind and socially inept.

+1. And also possibly trying to make the waitlist move by trying to dis a school. So, unkind, socially inept, and pathetic.

this is an anonymous board. i don't think op meant to offend anyone and i didn't read her post as doing this. you're overreacting. i'm sorry your friend's children did not get in.

Anonymity doesn’t mean the posters are any more socially adept than pp said. You can be anonymous and not be socially wretched.

Haha like religion plays a factor when a family just doesn’t want public schools. Idiot.

Exactly. If you didn’t want religion, why did you apply to beauvoir and sidwell and then act all put out when you didn’t get the secular one (gds)? There are lots or public secular schools. You just think you’re too good for them. And apparently think you’re too good for the best privates in the city because they have religion. So, in order to avoid the unwashed masses, you “guess” you’ll go to beauvoir. Poor you. You must sacrifice your atheism/agnosticism in order to avoid...gasp...secular public (or “lesser private”) schools. Ick. Just ick.

So many parents I know (including us) liked both GDS and Beauvoir (even also Sidwell) but have preferred one of them for one reason or another. I don’t think it’s always religion. The location matters....For example, I like Beauvoir because it is closest to us, and have good lunch, etc. We also don’t mind single sex education, but I understand that for some, this is a big no factor, so they prefer GDS or Sidwell. Some families have kids in both places. Congratulations on joining Beauvoir! It’s a wonderful place.

Of the scenarios my spouse and I envisioned, we did not deem this result to be likely. Such is life...

For 4th, Maret’s adding no more than 10 (perhaps 5 of those will be girls) and NCS is targeting 60 girls. This result makes total sense.

Before you went into your hysterical rant, did you ever consider the possibility that “I totally agree” isn’t the person who applied? Or are you always so eager to scream at someone, anyone, that you figured there was a 1% chance so you might as well let it fly. Go scream at the clouds next time.

I considered this: The whining and hypocrisy on this forum is pathetic. The screaming at the clouds is coming from people whose lives are so privileged they can’t see through the clouds to stop whining. So many people here are just gross.

These are all great options. Go with the one that is geographically the closest. Parents making the MS decision simply don't understand how important that becomes, especially in high school.
