Acceptances, and what school will your child be attending?

I am not the one trying the same ice cream twice to see if I really want it or not. SPECIALLY SLOW TURTLES.

Wow, you are obnoxious.

Not in DC; our private schools do not set up welcome events or yet more shadow days - they are concerned about kids missing more school after all of the school they missed during the process and only set up tour/shadow days by request (and then they have to accept).

I'm sure POVs can change on a shadow day after the fact but I do wonder just how many times one can see a school. Not judging but we too talked about this (ad nauseam) prior to applying, then declaring a first choice and every other step of the way. I also didnt have DS apply to any school we wouldn't be happy about getting into. This year is a very, very heavy sibling year and from what I understand, all of our schools have even less spots when sibs are taken into consideration. This means that the likelihood of getting into multiple schools will be a rare exception vs. the rule this particular year.

Well, when my DC was accepted to several schools, I thought: “what a privilege! Let me tell now x, y and z that we are not taking those spots because DC had the decision ready in January. This way, we will help the school and waitlisted people.” On Monday, three days after we got the results, we received e-mails or calls from those schools. Cases closed.

But some people enjoy to hold the line. They probably feel good about themselves. If some of them call me to make questions about DC’s school, I will try to make them go away. I don’t want line holders there. Really.

It would be great if this thread could go back to a list of what schools people are attending. Just shut up already people.

Agree. There is a separate existing thread on declining.

We were waitlisted at one of these. Any chance you've pulled the trigger, yet?

Are schools keeping the timelines?

Good luck to every family.

We did the same. It was such an easy decision - SINCE WE THOUGHT AND TALKED ABOUT IT BEFORE THE RESULTS CAME OUT.

But DC has friends who are doing a second shadow to some schools. Slow turtles.

You say this so smugly, but I know from experience that shadow days can change a kid's decision.

Yes, but they did it already. A second one is just ridiculous.

This isn't true for everyone.

Well you should have said that, precious. You see, some schools will not let potential students do a shadow day UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED.
