Incoming 4th daughter

NCS- accept
Maret- Wait list

Of the scenarios my spouse and I envisioned, we did not deem this result to be likely. Such is life...

For 4th, Maret’s adding no more than 10 (perhaps 5 of those will be girls) and NCS is targeting 60 girls. This result makes total sense.

NCS's 4th grade class is only 45 girls. More than half come from Beauvoir.

will do STA

DS going to 7th

We are in the same boat. Applied to 5 schools. Accepted to all.
STA, Sidwell, GDS, Maret and Potomac
Why did you choose STA?

Congrats! Also interested in why you chose sta. We just keep hearing amazing things, but it seems like it’s even harder to get into than ever! Looking for next year.

These are all great options. Go with the one that is geographically the closest. Parents making the MS decision simply don't understand how important that becomes, especially in high school.

This is so true no matter the year. We had no idea. No school among the good ones is better when you’re talking a big commute.

Maret and St. Albans are the hardest to get into.

We know a few who got into STA. All with the same admission outcome: sweep the best schools in the area (and some out of town schools as well). People choose STA over other schools in the area. STA WL essentially never moves.

STA is so specific—those who want that are only going to find it there. So, if people apply, chances are higher it’s their top choice.

This is true to a point (STA WL essentially never moves, or at least until summer when you are already on the hook for another tuition), but disagree with the rest.

I know several who got into STA this year (9th/ 7th/ 4th). Every one of them was denied or wait listed by another school.

My DC was accepted into the PK4 program at Beauvoir, St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, and Primary Day School; GDS WL and Sidwell No. We are going with Beauvoir but we also like St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes. What is your take on the two? Thank you in advance!

My take is that these 3 are located in far flung areas and that you should be choosing the one that is most geographically convenient

Wondering which is better at avoiding groupthink. We all live in a bubble but will one be better than the others in terms of exposing her to ideas that are actually different from those in the bubble? And is one worse?

I have a similar conundrum and I am leaning towards GDS because of that reason.

GDS is the most group think of that list.

Give it a rest, will you.
