Because no one cares about them. Meghan will never succeed in Hollywood. She had to call the paps for her baby shower in NYC. No invites to NYC Fashion Week after watching Serena play at USOpen.

Soon there will be Charles, his sister, his wife and William and Kate. That's it. In order for them to keep up with the number of public appearances and the expectations that come with that, they'll all be working much harder. Therefore, there is simply no chance that H&M were asked to depart.

No, there's also Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex (Queen's younger son and his wife). They are very active, since Prince Edward has taken over many of his father's duties. I believe the Queen's cousins are also working royals, though they are older.

It's good they made this decision. For optics the Crown is giving them the ability to make this choice, but it's highly likely they were encouraged to go this path. Prince Harry is so far removed from the throne at this point it's silly to continue in the role he once had. He (and his family) should step back.

I'm pragmatically considering all the implications and this outcome makes sense. Charles wants to downsize the monarchy, he knows Harry is irrelevant given Will has three children of his own now and the future of the UK isn't going to tolerate lots of spare royal figureheads no one really remembers, like the Dukes of Gloucester or Prince Michael of Kent and so forth. He's well aware of the difference between the relative success of Anne's non-titled children in having private lives versus Andrew's pointless daughters and their desperate attempts to remain royal figureheads, out of sync with the realities of the modern world. Even the Wessexes are raising their children not to have royal lives, albeit ones with regular aristocratic titles but no royal roles or expectations.

I do think it helped that Meghan Markle was not a good fit for the royal life. Contrary to what some people on here want to believe, the British press didn't hate Meghan Markle. She could have been a great addition reflecting the diversification of modern Britain. But Meghan's very modern, very Hollywood, very woke sensibilities didn't sit well with the expectations for being a royal wife. It was only going to court controversy in the future. And she wasn't going to be happy spending her life opening hospitals and sitting on boards of boring charities, like Princess Anne, or the Wessexes.

It may also be much better for their marriage for them to remain abroad. I always found Meghan an odd choice because prior to her Harry always seemed to like and go for the ditzy blond aristocratic girls from the aristocratic sets. But she was a major break from that. I think if he'd tried to keep a foot in that British aristocratic world with Meghan as a wife, and she'd never be fully accepted, not because of her background but because she doesn't seem interested in it at all and its rituals and traditions and manners, it would have placed enormous stress on the marriage, along with the conservative expectations for their roles and duties. But making this move to Canada means Harry is making a major break with his old friends and society for a different kind of world altogether. He's effectively leaving the UK behind for the world of rich young progressive celebs, for better or for worse, and may be happier in that - as long as he loves Meghan and prioritizes her over anything else. Because it is her world, not his world.
