Basically, some bro decided to do a webpage to make MCPS schools look better because USNews makes them look worse than FCPS. And it totally ddn't work because well: high FARMS rate in MCPS and low FARMs rate in FCPS with more yuppies indicates that high income people aren't moving to MoCo anymore. Oh honey, Blair didn’t teach you reading comprehension or math skills with that delusional sense of grandeur, huh? It’s a shame. You can’t actually show how winning $150k in ISEF money, sending more kids to HYPS, winning at Science Bowl, getting ranked at #4 makes TJ less than Blair because all you can type out is “We’re not a full magnet!” MCBro: if those 100 kids were doing so great, you wouldn’t clutch into this myth so hard. Those kids would be winning. But they aren’t. And sadly- neither are you. But hey- enjoy the increased poverty and crime rates. We will enjoy our tech jobs and lower taxes. |

One talent search.... oooohhhhh. Big whoop. TJ isn't on the bottom of the list: we compete with Stuyvesant and Bronx. So even though you sent more kids to this one thing, you still can't beat out our school ranking nationally, how many kids we send to HYPS, the number of Science Bowl winnings, the number of ISEF winnings, or even the prestige, but you eek out one little score to "prove" stem superiority? Because you're number 1 in one thing vs. so many others? Because you only have 100 kids? Please: you can only attract 100 kids in Blair. Your school system is failing its kids from the ground up because you can't expand the program. If you were so great, you would be able to fill an entire school. But you can't. Because MCPS schools aren't providing for your kids from elementary schools up anymore. And until you can actually see that as the real truth, and provide better data than just Regeneron (which from what I can tell is your only star), you need to stop showing your lack of data comprehension. Throwing a link out vs. however many more there are, including the Polaris List from the beginning, just makes you look bad. For OP: be happy you don't live in MCPS anymore. The parents there are super delusional and have to troll a FCPS forum to help themselves sleep better at night. |

Westinghouse (What you call Regeneron) doesn’t have the clout of ISEF- you would know this if you watched Science Fair like a good nerdy mom. And you’ve never won it. TJ has and if you read the link- 2019, we won $150k. We also won top prize: something you have never done. And FCPS send a kid from Reston to win too- something I don’t see MCPS doing. Because MCPS sucks at science. Westinghouse was prestigious before, kinda like Blair. Now it’s all ISEF and TJ. You sound old and dated. Good luck with your higher taxes and your lack of self worth. |

At least one of the posters actually posted links with arguments. And that person isn’t you. If MCPS was great at stem, it would be great at all levels. Not just one. And because it isn’t- it doesn’t win ISEF, it doesn’t win science bowl, it doesn’t send as many kids to HYPS: it’s not as good. Just because you have more kids in just one thing doesn’t make it better. It makes it good at just one thing. It’s like having a really good teacher who knows what the Westinghouse judges are looking for. And as TJ still wins some Westinghouse and ISEF it looks like TJ just has better teachers. And I know some of them personally. They are great. The whole school system has to make STEM a priority for it to succeed. And though Blair only takes 100 kids- those kids should be able to lift some of the other kids up. It doesn’t. In fact there are schools in HOCo and Baltimore city doing better on a whole than your precious Blair. MCPS is losing new blood to FCPS- because of our schools that test higher at SOLs than your CC and because we have tech jobs, and because our population can do math and see that we have more affordable housing and AAP and magnet programs that work. Which means even though we are great now- we are continue to be great. And if you don’t believe this: I will tell you one more thing. I am from HOCO. I grew up thinking Blair was great. I was sad when they demolished the old school. When they told me the old program was going away- I knew the magnet program was going to fall apart. And When I did the metrics for buying our next home- it was FCPS over MCPS because I knew that it wasn’t worth it There would be no pupil placement, no real magnet, no choice. I don’t regret this. Blair isn’t worth it. It’s a failing school. It’s why my friends bought houses 250k more than me to send their kids to RM or WW. And now they are moving here to work for Microsoft. There are more choices here then there are in MCPS. And if you had the choice to send your kid to a school where there are 423 kids that are brilliant in a class Cs 100- you are going to do the latter because your kid will have a better chance at finding their tribe. |
