Interesting. I have a friend who is a graphic artist and he does do friends and family websites. |
| Lularoe is basically going out of business. The owners stiffed their suppliers to the tune of millions of dollars and are now being sued by everyone under the sun, including their own consultants, because, among other things, the company stopped honoring their refund and buyback program. |
Can you sell your "small business" then? ALL small business owners are able to either sell their business or pass it down. Gosh, I do need an education. And educate others too! I'm about to stroll into the owner/CEO's office at the small firm where I currently work and tell him that a) he doesn't exist, and b) his firm cannot be passed down to his kids or sold. |
I think its crazy people give this unregulated shit to their kids. |
Most small businesses function on a small margin and when they retire there is very little to "sell". Is a small plumbing company gonna sell his tools? What planet do you live on. |
I don't think the PP is saying he WON'T work for friends and family, more like he doesn't corner these people at parties, spam their inbox, ring them up multiple times a week, and invite them on outings for the sole purpose of hawking his services. |
| To the original question, I dunno, but my former coworker just signed up within recent months. Wonder how far along the downline she is. |
But she forgot to add the "it breaks my heart" phrase in the above screed. Honestly, every friend I've had that was taken in by one of these MLMs changed personalities while they were plugging their sales, almost glassy-eyed, with a perma smile. When they stopped selling, it was like a switch was turned off and they came back to reality. |
But if they wanted to sell a working business to someone prior to retirement, they could. And yeah, upon retirement they could sell their tools, their work van, their wet vacs, etc. You can't. Because you don't own anything. You can't even legally resell the merchandise at a big discount. |
they could sell them all their product samples and introduce them to their regular client base. |
Men don't do this to you because you don't have a business and you are not a prospective client. I get men selling me stuff all the time. Just today I had a friend's brother contact me to do the floors in my house because he has a flooring business. I know men with auto repair businesses and if they see a little dent (which I would never fix) they hand me their card. I am in an industry where I buy products from computer companies. When men find out my position in my company they hit me up at parties for a meeting. Just because you are of no use to men that have businesses does not mean they don't help each other out and expect friends and family to do the same. My brother is a gazillionaire and he just hit me up for 5 contact for a new venture he is doing. He knows I have contacts with venture capitalist and wants names. |
Pretty sure they're not allowed to sell any of that stuff, and definitely not at a discount. There are secret "illegal" FB groups where you can get deeply discounted MLM merchandise - it's people trying to get out and get rid of their merchandise without the company finding out. My friend who swears by the R&F eyelash stuff is in several of those groups. |
Good to know. That eyelash stuff is really great, especially after chemo. no eyelashes are not fun. |
Well it Does break my heart! We should be supporting other women who are working hard to provide for their families. Just because you don’t like your job and are jealous of their lifestyle, that’s no reason to hate on them! |
Men definitely get sucked into MLMs, especially the diet and fitness-related stuff. But, as was slyly mentioned in at least one documentary I watched (and verified by a guy I know who used to hawk one of the big name products), most of the top and middle level guys are actually selling/using anabolic steroids. I'm not saying that's morally correct or whatever, but those steroids DO work and it's not a hard sell once people figure it out. There are a lot more guys interested in purchasing those than there are women who want ugly leggings or overpriced facial serums. |
