| Thoughts on Tyler taking over a younger 2005 BRYC team? Will it be a good fit? Why did Mikey not take this team on? |
Why didn’t Mikey take that team? Because they're the weakest team in the club and he thinks he’s above coaching them. |
That club's coaching philosophy regarding Mikey is readily apparent, surprising to see that specific question regarding both Mikey and 2005s. |
Mikey is the girls ECNL director. He simply doesn't have time or patience for teams that struggle or may have talent that needs to be developed. Now if Tyler makes that team better and they begin show promise, maybe he'll consider them. Until then, those girls should stay in their lane and out of his way. |
Exactly. No time for developing any players. Mind your business 05. Win some games and maybe you’ll be blessed with Mikey’s coaching genius. |
| Tyler will develop them this year. Hopefully other clubs recognize it. She can then pass them on to Mikey and actually get paid a decent coaches wage comparable to other clubs in the DMV with a new club. |
How is it that you (act like you) know what the BRYC coaches get paid but somehow don't know that Tyler is a man and has stuck with the club for years? |
This made me laugh! Tyler is my the son of my former coach. The Mishalows are some of the best people I know. Anyone who gets a chance to play for Tyler should go out of their way to also meet Gene and Denise! |
| Confused With the statements on Mikey taking the best teams. The 2002 team my daughter plays on was 8th in the CCL when Mikey took over, then went on to finish in ECNL Playoff spots 2 years in a row. She had an amazing 2 years playing for Mikey, every player on her team got better. |
How many new players were added to the roster? |
2004 team was not very good before last season also. They play nice soccer now and were the top ECNL team from Northern VA last year. |
Hey Tyler |
Going out a limb here, but I'm guessing if it was Tyler, HE would refer to himself with the appropriate pronoun. Plus, if you've dealt with Tyler, you'd this would not be his style...he's a really good guy. |
He coached my son at Centreville HS. I have dealt with him.... |
Mikey cut 80+% of the girls the year he took over the 02 team (after CCL season / before ECNL season), and brought in girls from other clubs who wanted to play ECNL. He also lost interest in coaching one of them, so she ended up playing with the 01s. Most of those players that were developed and accomplished (i.e. the one going to William and Mary on a full ride) long before they ever met him. One would hope that after playing two years of soccer for any coach with a license, they would be better (that's not a high bar) --- at age 9, my kid was better after playing two years of house soccer, then at 7. And while making the ECNL playoffs is a nice accomplishment, remind me again of how they've done once they got to Nationals. Hope this helps with your confusion. |
