So the columnist is basically wishing for a new and improved version of Hillary to reappear? Why? The country has moved left. It’s not 1993 anymore, Tom. Dude is stuck in the 90s Heck, even the suburban white womens of Ashburn and places like that are forever blue voters now. And not surprising: they know that a form of progressive socialism will be good news for their sons.

That you actually believe this idiocy just shows how well and truly out of touch you are. Good luck.

Out if touch how? The party has moved left. Sorry.

+1.

Does the PP really think that the WI, MI, and PA blue collar voters share AOC's values? Or those of "suburban white womens" of Ashburn?

Those people WILL vote D. They HAVE voted D. But they won't do it for a far left candidate. They'll stay home instead.

Dem's are being so astonishingly foolish.

+1 yep

I’m pretty sure that any Dem will win in MI, PA, and WI. The promise of universal health care, free college, and high taxes on the rich is populist and reasonable stuff.

You have a point re the freebies; however, it won't happen just with high taxes on the rich. Dems are definitely skilled at offering free stuff. Through tax increases, maybe the middle class workers can work 5 months a year "for free."

There are many other ways to make things more affordable. I think that's part of the key to this. Everyone knows that colleges have gotten out of control with bloated administration, climbing walls, etc. Everyone knows that we pay way too much for pharmaceuticals and health care. Cost control is part of the solution. Those sectors' costs have increased at way more than the rate of inflation and the middle class wages have not kept up so of course that stuff is not affordable. Everyone in the middle class knows this and that somebody made money from that. If this country is to remain a healthy, educated place where workers are valued, the rich will have to help out too. The middle class are already being "taxed" through increasing health care and education costs (not to mention having to save for their retirements) so I honestly think a lot of the middle class doesn't see a big difference in whether it's a "tax" or a higher direct bill. It's the same thing . . . less money in their pockets.

There are not enough rich people currently in our country for universal health care, free college, and all the other "freebies" the Dems are pushing.
And, if you think the uber rich are going to stick around to fund all this stuff, you are delusional.
And, Dems are now introducing a new bill that would provide legal representation to asylum seekers. You have got to be kidding me.

LOL there is no reuniting the country. The republicans are racist. They always have been but with Trump they have dropped the veil. Why in the world would any one want to work with a Republican?

Yeah, yeah we know. We don't agree with you so we're racist. We were racist when McCain and Romney were running for president. We were racist when Bush was president. We're racist.

(Racist doesn't mean what you think it does.)

Youve proven, once again, that you don’t understand just how many gobs of money the ultra wealthy have. And way to prove they’re and un-American bunch of losers.

We call your party racist because you keep showing that you are. The most recent example (go back where you came from) is pretty egregious, yet you all keep pretending it’s totally acceptable.

Is that what's happening now?

With Democrats wanting to remove all barriers to "managing" to get into the country, it's quite an incentive. I'm not seeing any corpses in the streets now, but nice use of hyperbole.

I’m the PP who said how out of touch those of you who think the country has moved left are. I never said the Democrats haven’t moved left - they absolutely have. My point was that while the Dems are moving further and further left (courtesy of AOC and co.), the rest of the country is rejecting their ultra-liberal agenda. Of course mainstream voters don’t share the ultra-left’s zealotry - and they won’t vote for them, either. That was my point.

The only evidence you cite is lies like “they want free healthcare for all!” Americans want some form of single payer or universal healthcare. They want something done about global warming. We like a functional government. We like help for those in need. We want solutions to problems we face as a country and the GOP isn’t offering solutions. They’re offering extremism and tax cuts for billionaires.

Given the Democrats’ resounding triumphs in 2018 and the mainstreaming of progressive socialism, I’d say this country on the whole is many steps left of center now.

You make some potentially valid points but your last two sentences are a cliched slogan, not an argument.

In what way is that a cliche? Literally, all the GOP has done is try to end Obamacare and its provisions like coverage for pre-existing conditions, locking up asylum seekers as cruelly as possible, ending legal protections for LGBTQ folks and their families, targeting women’s rights to bodily integrity and billionaire tax cuts. I don’t know if it comforts you to think that’s a cliche, but it’s not. The gop brings extremism and billionaire tax cuts: fact.
