Any one hear today from schools?

My husband works at an elite private school-- I won't say which one-- but they purposely mail their admission letters on Fridays so parents have the weekend to process before calling the school. He said most schools do this...

We "know" people. sorry to be so blunt but that is the reality in this area.

Can I be your friend? Pretty please??? With sugar on it?

Good God, please tell me that you are joking!

I find it funny that you thought I could possibly be serious about this post? Why would I want to be friends with such an important person!!!! We should all be honored that she has decided to grace us with her presence on such a humble forum. I bow down to you and all your important contacts!

She's happy. Let her be happy. There are a lot of things in this world to get upset about, but other peoples' happiness shouldn't be one of them.

Not sure this person is for real. I don't think Beauvoir was to mail their letters this soon.

Congratulations to everyone getting good news! This process seems so brutal.

To any admissions officers online -- I wonder if it might make more sense for schools to not time the letters for Friday. Families may have to process dissappointment without school or work to distract them, and the children may feel the mood change/let down the length of the weekend. Just a thought.

See link about for admission calendar, Beauvoirs notification date is March 7, 2008, that is today. Maybe they stuck a few letters in the mail yesterday - not my fault.

I feel like a circling vulture at my mailbox. I wish that the schools would post after close of business on Friday the accepted and waitlisted applicants names (or perhaps a pre-assigned code). My mail is always slow. It sounds like many will hear this weekend but I probably will not hear until Monday or Tuesday.

please tell me where your kids are going so I can make sure mine do not go there too. What a horrible thing to say and. What the hell is so big about a preschool, Kindersgarten or elementary school. The big 3, that cracks me up every time I read that crap. My child scored in the 99th percentile. So what, they are testing little children. To me, it really does not mean that much. She is smart, but so are most of the kids I know. She does go to a great private school and I would bet that if you were interviewed with your child, your child would of been rejected for YOUR additude. Exactlly why I picked her school, we don't have families like you there.

3:58 here again. For those of you who got waitlisted at Maret and Sheridan - good news - at least one person at each school will make it off the waitlist. We intend to decline those two schools. We still have to decide about Sidwell and Beauvior but I quess I should be happy that I have that choice at all.

Doesn't anyone else get 15:58's joke?

It really irks me when people question my sincerity. I have better things to do with my time - I am signing off. I will leave with some partying advice, it does not cost anything to be happy for someone else's good fortune!

Hi--this is the "this disgusts me" poster again. I do think the 15:58 poster (kid into all three schools because of who they know) is joking...whoever would gleefully suggest that his/her kid is not "worthy" but got in anyways through connections has to be pulling our legs. Otherwise, that kid is in for a sorry adolescence.

Thanks for the "partying" advice.. is that a Freudian slip about your plans for a celebratory weekend?
(And by the way, I don't think you're for real, but I guess it is funny to see all of these reactions!)

I live in Georgetown and I didn't receive any letters today from schools (applied to Beauvoir/Sidwell pre-k) , so I'm not sure how anyone could have received acceptances - so, either someone isn't telling the truth or they have a better postman/woman than I do.
