I do think the 15:58 poster (kid into all three schools because of who they know) is joking...whoever would gleefully suggest that his/her kid is not "worthy" but got in anyways through connections has to be pulling our legs. Otherwise, that kid is in for a sorry adolescence.

When did 1558 say her child was not worthy?

i didn't receive any letters either. curious do former professors have as much or more pull than alumnae and current families? just curious. that is to say if they write a recommendation for a student after having taught there previously?

My personal view is that aluman and current parents likely have more influence.

Person who got into Maret, Sheridan, Beauvoir and Sidwell - why did you automatically decide not to send your child to Maret or Sheridan?

I am hoping my child gets in to Sheridan it is my first choice school and by the way my child scored in the 99%! The families who go there are totally not into all this bullshit. They are non-elitist and just plain nice -

i am completely relaxed about these results. i have many relatives that went to the ivy league schools and they ALL went to public schools. i know that for many of us that is not an option as the schools (most) anyway in dc are not good. however, i am just saying that you don't need to go to beauvoir or sidwell to be intelligent and successful adults. my husband went to all public schools and a "second tier" college and he did amazingly well. his business grossed 1.2 last year and he only works 40 hours per week. i am not saying this to brag but to give hope to moms that are so stressed out about this. it will be okay. seriously. you can always reapply and reapply. i can't tell you how many people i know that ended up going to their 3rd or 4th choice school and say they fit in perfectly and are so happy there. so maybe the admissions people do have a sense of where children and families will fit in better and be happier. i applied to two of the big three schools and honestly my gut knows we wouldn't fit in or be happy at one for sure. i applied b/c it is supposed to be the best, but honestly i am hoping in a sense that we don't get in then i don't have to feel badly about deciding not to go there.

The mail just came, got a Sidwell letter. I was really on pins on needs all week becasue they rejected my DD last year. Second time was a charm! I won't even bother to open the letters that come from the other schools. BTW, Maret waitlisted us - crazy!!!!

To the person whose child got into CCBC, how old is your child? And how many days/week did you apply for?
