That’s how this thread concludes; heretics supporting Martin and literally laughing at faithful Catholics.

As Malachi Martin said: in the end Catholics will be hunted like dogs.

Chastity - what a blessing!

This topic is for Catholics. Not swingers.

You really have that dichotomy in your world view? If you think the only options are chaste or swinger, that’s a seriously twisted opinion of sex and humans as sexual beings. God made our bodies capable of sexual pleasure as one of his many gifts to us. It relieves stress, alleviates pain, and helps couples bond. If you want to be aesthete and abstain from sex forever that’s fine. But swinger isn’t the only other alternative!

Really? Then what is venereal disease? prostate cancer? miscarriage?

Wait! Do you think sexual pleasure causes these things? Or do you think if you have sex (pleasurable or not), you’ll get prostate cancer? I had 10 years of Catholic school and even I had better sex ed than to think that.

No, but if God gets credit for sexual pleasure, who gets credit for sex-related pain? And why did God make the pleasure available to homosexuals if he didn't want them to experience it?

You’re preaching to choir, Bud. Of course, I think God wants gay men to experience sexual pleasure. I have a lesbian DD. I hope she has a long and fulfilling sex life with a woman she loves.

But to recap...

Prostate cancer has nothing to do with past sexual activity. Virgins can develop it.

A woman with a turkey baster can get pregnant and have a miscarriage.

Babies in the womb can contract venereal diseases.

Different perspective but I will pray for your DD happiness, and, in deference to a parent’s love, keep sexuality out of it. Wishing her many blessings.

It sounds like the many blessings you are praying for pp's DD do not include a fulfilling sex life with a woman - something pp specifically wants for her, is that right?

It probably doesn't matter, though, unless pp still puts stock in prayers from Catholics who think homosexual activity is sinful.

If you are wondering how Catholics can believe in a God who both blesses us and allows us to experience suffering, there’s a lot of great theology written by laity for both Catholics and non-Catholics.

which is probably very convincing to peoplewho are determined to remain Catholic.

ALso -- I wonder why god -- or the church -- didn't make all of this clear in the catechism. WHy is so much additional theology needed to stick with the One True Church?

Most religions have written works that comment on scripture and offer clarification or emerging understandings. You need to study more comparative religion if you think Catholics are the only ones doing this.
