| Honestly I was going to say when it gets dark— what’s that, 8, 8:30 in the summer. I could maybe see going to 9 but I probably wouldn’t. |
+1 Past 9, you can take your kids to a park if they're that eager to play. |
| I was going to say 10pm |
| 8 during the week and 9 on weekends. |
| Be nice to your neighbors. |
| I would say 8. Basketball noises are really annoying and deserve an earlier cutoff than other types of play outside. |
| You guys must have lots of older kids to think 9 is fine. By then mine should have been asleep for an hour. |
So, why are you being the neighborhood martyr? Let the kids play! |
My kids are 4, 7 and 9. They’re not awake late but I just think that’s life and older kids can be out late until around 10 playing even if I have a 4 year old. I would white noise if it bothered my kid. |
Better for them to be laying in bed before 11... See the research. |
10 is far too late on a regular basis. If it were say, once a week or so, no big deal but regular basis? There's NO reason you can't stop your kids at 8 or 9 other than you don't want to, or they don't want to and you have no authority over them. 9:30 on a school night? Also no good. Look, your kids have a right to play ball but other neighbors have rights too. And why does it even have to be about rights and noise ordinance? Why not just be a good neighbor and understand that at that time of night, people are getting ready to relax, watch TV, possibly still doing work or homework, younger kids are in bed, and behave decently, and a basketball makes a LOT of noise. Just like you'd want them to do for you if you went to them about their barking dog, or blaring music or whatever. |

“There’s only so much accommodation that can be expected.”
I’m so glad you aren’t my neighbor. What a self centered person you seem to be. You seem blissfully unaware that many people go to bed early, and that there’s almost no noise more annoying than a basketball. |
| ^ agree. The “accommodation” is that your neighbors do not complain about the annoying sound of basketballs during reasonable daytime hours. And in exchange you knock it off at a reasonable time - ie 8:00 |
| 9 of course. |
| In the summer, 9:00 or 9:30. Basically when it is too dark to play. Kids play out on our street until then in the summer months. |
