Gonzaga Kairos Vandalism

Something about this story does not make sense to me, and yes, I say that as a parent of a GZ graduate who went on Kairos and then led Kairos retreats. I could see a dozen or so “bad apples” acting in this manner but virtually every single kid on the retreat over the course of two days with no one noticing or telling the adults? No. This may be another Duke lacrosse or UVA fraternity story.

I agree. How snd to what degree will this be investigated and what information will be made public? Beyond dcum of course- best source of information on things like this is often here

Actually, the Washington Post story yesterday was the best source and prompting for posts here. Hadn’t been a peep about it here in the 2 weeks since it occurred.

I had assumed it was race-related because why else would WaPo care. But yeah a bunch of ragey bros playing hulk smash tracks, too. What I wouldn’t give for a video of the damage overlaid with actors reading the Kairos letters from these asshole’s friends and families about what kind and wonderful boys they are.

Wishful thinking on your part, pp. the fact that the homeowners are not pressing charges means that the kids were caught red handed, confessed, and the school is going to “make things whole” since everything is so obvious. The school would not swallow all of this if they didn’t have to.

Love how all our kids are now environmentalists and yet would throw a fridge in a river.

I get the sick feeling that if someone hadn’t leaked this to the post, the story would never be known. And the school would have been just fine with that.

I posted before but as a Catholic who knows a lot about these retreats and has had family participate in them, this is deeply disturbing. If it’s all true as reported Gonzaga should clean house of the students involved.

We know Catholic school high schoolers suspended and expelled for far lesser offenses. I hope Gonzaga does the right thing.

Because no charges were filed I’m guessing these boys get away with it. No expulsion, just a lot of window dressing “punishment”. By this time next year it’ll be a funny story and these kids will go down as legends.

This is what I don't understand.

How in the world could those PROPERTY OWNERS be so negligent in not pressing charges?
