The parents with kids at Stanford, Caltech, MIT and UChicago are sadly proud of their kids. A real friend with a kid at an Ivy would tell them to stop talking at these parties. They're embarrassing themselves.

I don't get this concept of bragging at parties. You stand with a group and the conversation comes up about your kids and what they are doing. You state that they are at school, and the question is asked where. You answer the question. Whether it is Harvard, Yale, or UMD, I would not consider it bragging. If, however, you start to recite the research projects and study abroad programs without any prompting, then, yes, that is tacky.

I laughed when I read the original post because it was funny and I knew exactly what was to follow. The people on here are so easy to parody because 90% of them seemingly lack any self-awareness.
