Kind of like how all the outrage about Trump's tweets, statements and policies is manufactured for partisan purposes, and how much is really a result of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Trump routinely questions the intelligence of black people. Yet, you support him. Jeong compares the opinions of a few white people to dog droppings and you want her fired. Tell me again who is deranged?

All black people? Please post the exact quote.

With all of Trump's race baiting and dog whistle tweets, no person can say they voted for him and call themselves "decent" at the same time.

Wow. I couldn't stomach going through that entire batch, but the sheer volume of her tweets tell me there's more than merely satire going on. Someone who is just "poking fun" does not go on that extensive a rampage, and keep it up for that length of time.

And fine. Freedom of speech and all that. But she should not be on the editorial staff of (one of) the country's most prominent newspapers.

Actually most of those are clearly satirical. Some are very funny, I loved her tweetstorm about an app to help white people cook rice.

Clearly the problem here is that many of you have no sense of humor.

So the next time a white person tweets about "dumbass f'cking black people pissing oll over the the internet like dogs" or that maybe "blacks will become extinct and that was [her] plan all along" or has a hashtag "cancel black people," to quote just three of hundreds, you will think it's funny?

It depends on the context. In context, Jeong's "marking up the internet" tweet -- which you don't even quote correctly -- may not be not humorous, but it is also obviously not racist. In context, she is clearly referring to specific tweets and the (presumably) white authors of those tweets. She wasn't referring to all white people. It's also pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that she doesn't really want to cancel all white people. You seem to want to read her tweets in a vacuum without any context and without any additional knowledge of her. That is a mistake.

To address your question, if a white person made a joke about the opinions of specific black people (not sure why you want to pick on black people when they had nothing to do with this, but you be you), I'm not sure anyone would even flinch. That sort of thing happens all the time. Look at all the criticism of Maxine Waters and people who support her. Do you consider that entirely racist? If a white person used a "cancel black people" hashtag, it would most likely be considered racist. The US being what it is, the idea of cancelling white people is clearly absurd and not serious. Sadly, the idea of cancelling black people has some historical resonance and cannot clearly be understood as hyperbole or not literal. Again, these things can't be looked at in a complete vacuum. History and the existing power structure need to be considered.

See? Even your remark about your not knowing why I'd "pick on black people" but "you be you""stinks of an accusation of racism on my part. Look at how you twist things around in an attempt to defend the anti-white racist, while "hinting" at racism at the white girl who objects to what she sees as obvious racist hate speech

And the reason I used black people as an example is because....duh.... it is the perfect counterpoint. It's "funny" when it's against whites and racist against blacks. Would you have preferred I used Muslims or Hispanics as an example? (I didn't, because it's not as obvious a comparison.) But if I did that, dollars to donuts you'd ask me why I was "picking" on Muslims or Hispanics.

I could go on, but what's the expression about teaching a pig to sing? You simply will not admit you were wrong on this one - obviously wrong to everyone but a few extreme progressives around here - so I give up.

PP, it's not about Jeff admitting he is wrong. He truly, honestly believes he is correct.

Don't you get it? It's not about this one racist. It's about the revelation of the double standard that liberals, and the NYT is particular, have when it comes to racism - and which you demonstrate again and again with each of your posts.

Against blacks: Completely unacceptable. Against whitey? So funny!

It is not a double standard. Like it or not, there is a history of racism against minorities that extends to this day. There is not a similar history regarding "white people". Yes, there has been prejudice against specific groups of whites such as the Irish and Italians, but when that occurred they were not completely considered white (which is itself revealing).

For example, why is the "n-word" unacceptable? Because if its meaning? Not really. It's because of the historical context of the word. When Jeff Foxworthy makes jokes about rednecks, he is viewed as funny and wildly popular among those about whom he jokes. Similarly, minority comedians can make fun of the groups to which they belong. Why? Because they don't represent a threat to those communities. When Foxworthy jokes about rednecks, the targets of his humor know he is only joking and that he doesn't present any sort of threat to them. On the other hand, if an "East coast liberal" -- even a white one -- made jokes about rednecks, it would generate lots of objection. All of this has to do with context. Jeong's context is that she presents no real threat to white people. There is a certain absurdity even in the idea her being a threat.

I don't care whether the NYT fires her or not, I'm not part of that mob, it's a company, not the government.

What I do care about is the blatant double standards that are so publicly evident by her actions and the NYT actions.

This controversy has really laid it out for all to see. Some like you don't appear to care, some like me were aware of this all along.

But the clarity of this NYT double standard is definitely turning a few heads and may shatter a few people's glass bubbles who will now start to pay attention and see that maybe there is inherent bias with the mainstream media.

Here is a good example of what I mean by Jeong turning a mirror on white people:

December 22, 2014, Andrew Sullivan defending "The Bell Curve" -- "...Airing taboo stuff and examining and critiquing it has been a running feature of this blog from its beginnings. It is an axiom of mine that anything can be examined and debated... So I responded to the race and IQ controversy exactly as I would any other: put it all on the table and let the facts and arguments take us."

December 23, 2014, Jeong -- "G O T T A H E A R B O T H S I D E S" —Andrew Sullivan"

December 23, 2014, Jeong -- "Are white people genetically predisposed to burn faster in the sun, thus logically being only fit to live underground like groveling goblins?"

December 23, 2014, Jeong -- "Let's hear both sides!"

Ironically, the second tweet was used by Sullivan last week to show that Jeong was racist.

Why don't you take time to explain your disagreement?

You’re defending someone who made crass and insulting remarks about white people. Doesn’t matter one iota if she claims she was “joking.” Had the same remarks been made about POC, this woman would be out on her a$$ immediately (and rightfully so) and the liberal outrage machine would be in full swing. However, since you’re very much a part of said liberal outrage machine, you defend her, find her “funny” and accuse those who don’t of being thin-skinned.

It’s all so very hypocritical, dishonest, and mind-boggling. But also, a great eye-opener to people who actually fall for your BS.

Well said. But so wasted on people who call others “racists,” while simultaneously defending ACTUAL RACISTS. What morons.

Trump questions the intelligence of anyone who does not agree with him--he is an equal opportunity offender on this--he has questioned the intelligence of people of all colors. Do you think black people should be exempt? That would be racist.
