Anybody else feel the same way about the rich?

Most of the wealthy people I know are quite nice and easy to get along with. Vast majority of them are newly wealthy and came to money through their own hard work rather than inheritance. I can appreciate that money distorts people's view on things, so I raise an eye brow when someone talks about spending 2k/person/day at a resort and how it was worth it. But things like this does not reflect on the character of a person, just their circumstance. Given that people vary greatly and there is no homogeneity of personality to rich/wealthy people, either you were extremely unlucky to have been around a group of exclusively insufferable people, or you yourself is actually the insufferable one. In terms of odds, the latter is the more likely scenario.

When I find a situation where it seems "they are all wrong", I quickly take a step back and do some self inspection.

I was in Tanzania and Kenya on a mission trip a few years and I saw unbelievable poverty yet the people were incredibly grateful for the little they had. When wealthy people in the U.S. complain about the problems they are having with their Mercedes it makes me cringe. I'm considered wealthy and I know that I am at fault sometimes so I am not an innocent. But there are a lot of wealthy people who never stop complaining. We all know them.

Is your argument that record-high wealth inequality in this country is protecting us from becoming poverty stricken? Because economists would not agree with you.
