S/O Resentment by Men of Easier Access to Sex by Women

Sex robots are going to turn traditional dating dynamics on their head.

I, for one, welcome our new sex robot overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a woman who gets hit on by creepy dudes (and doesn't feel especially advantaged by it), I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground lube caves.

1. It's nonsensical to say that women have the "advantage" of easier access to sex. Speaking for myself, I don't see it as an advantage. If I had easier access to good sex, or to people I actually wanted to have sex with, then the word advantage might make sense. Sure, I could find someone to f*ck right now on Tinder or whatever the kids are using these days, but what would be the advantage for me? I am extremely unlikely to find the experience worthwhile.

2. The fact is that more attractive people have easier access to sex (i.e., good sex with people they find attractive). Our culture teaches the entitled schlubby self-proclaimed "nice guys" who whine about women being gatekeepers of sex that every man deserves a hottie - because non-hotties and/or (god forbid!) fat chicks simply don't count as sexual beings. They only pursue women who are way out of their league physically and they wonder why they can't get laid. On the other hand, I don't hear a lot of women complaining that superhawtsexy people only want to date other superhawtsexy people. I mean, duh.

3. You don't just get what you want in life because you want it. If you want someone, you have to be able to offer them something they want. "I have a penis" is not a sufficiently compelling offer for most women. If you don't understand why not, you're probably a terrible lay.

It's still an advantage. A woman of average looks has a broader pool of men she can choose from for sex than a man of average looks. You might be right that this advantage does you no good because, even with the expanded pool, you don't want to have sex with any of them. Still, if I give person A $10 to buy dinner and person B $0.50 to buy dinner, person A still has an advantage even if she won't eat anything other than champagne and caviar.

A more accurate analogy would be that you give person A $10 to buy dinner, but it doesn't matter because the only food available is egg salad that's been sitting out in the sun for a week.

Wow, where to start? I don’t know about your culture, but personally I’m not aware of guys who feel they _deserve_ a hottie. However, fat is unattractive, you know it’s unattractive, and you should address that problem if you feel overlooked. And you may not hear women complaining, but the rest of the country hears women complaining that there are no available men who meet their standards: all of you demand a prince.

But that's exactly my point. If you feel overlooked, think about why you're not attracting the type of people you're interested in and what you can do to change that. Maybe it's losing weight. Maybe it's making more money. Maybe it's resolving personality or emotional issues. Maybe your standards are unrealistic. This is true of both men and women.

And yeah, I do have woman friends who complain they can't find a prince. They're the ones who are still single at 40 and the rest of us are rolling our eyes at them. And yet, a man can make a statement such as "fat is unattractive" that summarily dismisses more than half of women from his dating pool and no one bats an eyelash. Just sayin'.

American women, known the world over for being (along with American men) f’ing fat due to US lifestyle: bad food, no exercise.

Do you really not see how this is also true for unattractive women?

I see that a woman who tries, including keeping her weight under control, is not invisible. A man who is employed, fit, average height, and has a less than astronomical income is invisible.

I don't see this. Most Troll-looking men I know in a professional capacity manage to get married. Employed means some woman will take that deal.

So...what's your point? This forum is based in America, which is inhabited largely (no pun intended, haha) by Americans.

Sounds like you're mad because you aren't at least 6 feet tall.

Will they? I would think that the guys who need them the most are also the ones who aren’t going to able to afford them.

I don't see this "invisible" man thing either. Might happen more with very young men, but once guys are in their 20s -30s with jobs, most find someone.

I only know a couple of men who are not married who want to be...one is painfully shy and works in a male dominated profession, and the other divorced his wife of many years and then found out not too many 20 year old women are interested in a not so good looking 60 year old fed.

Most younger women are harassed to have sex much more than they are interested.

Anyone that thinks the sexes have equal access to sex is not too bright. Look at all the porn , how much is directed to women, maybe 1% ??

Women control access to their bodies and do not have the same drive. Sure there are outliers the DW that wants more sex than her DH but these are rare

And when women do ONS they go after good looking guys so what happens is 80% of the women are going after 10% of the men

Plus I get to hear female friends whine about being eternally single, yet requiring that a suitable candidate be over median height. “I just don’t feel it.” Ok, stay single. _You_ are saying no; you are not a victim here.

Once we have affordable and lifelike sex robots, life will be a lot better for men -- I agree

And yes this will take a lot of bargaining power away from women in the getting market

I seriously doubt this. At the end of the day a robot is still just another rechargeable bedroom novelty. There’s no way it could take the place of a real woman in the bedroom. Think about what goes into a really good beej - there’s no way a robot could do that.

Woman here, I have NO problem with men getting sex robots. Those are the men we definitely want weeded out of the potential dating pool.
