| Grad school counts way more than undergrad so there's that |
That's totally something a late bloomer with no depth would say. There are just too many kinds of grad and weekend and executive rackets all these prestige colleges offer. Someone's undergrad and prep school tell you far more about the person's character, polish and mental fitness. |
| I have noticed that people who wasted time and money at a "fancy" undergrad tend to be obsessed with status. I don't actually know anyone in real life, except one insecure person, who gives a flying f where anyone went to school. |
Neither of them count. It's the person's intelligence, creativity, and skill that count. College doesn't give you that. And admissions aren't even a very good indicator of potential. Everyone in this town needs to get over themselves. |
Prep school, really? |

who the hell cares? people have their reasons. i wear my old sweatshirt from high school bc 1) it’s comfortable, and 2) i’m proud i went there (andover with no connections and worked my butt off to graduate with honors). i don’t wear much georgetown stuff (my undergrad) bc it was only an ok experience. i rarely wear my uchicago sweatshirt (grad school) bc it was a pretty negative experience.
DH constantly wears his michigan gear (undergrad) bc he’s obsessed with michigan sports. |
Well, I certainly agree that people tend to prioritize what they feel strong and secure about. For the people I respect and want to emulate, that would be what they have achieved and the qualities of the person they have become. But sure, you do you. |
| All that matters is if you are attractive, kind and quick witted. |
| OP has posted this before. Pot-stirrer |
| OP. What's the harm if it makes them feel better about themselves? It's not as if they are harming anybody. Maybe getting into this school was an important milestone in their life. Another possibility is that their kid or someone they really care about landed up there? Parents usually are very proud of their children's accomplishments. Maybe they are celebrating that and not themselves |

I went to a state school for undergrad and a top 3 law school. As an undergrad I was a commuter and worked two jobs while going to school, so I had no fun. I had much more fun in law school. I’m also prouder of my achievement of getting a degree from that school. Why wouldn’t I be? I don’t wear school gear, but if I did it would be my law school.
Why don’t you think about why this bothers you? You seem to feel they don’t “deserve” to wear it or that it’s somwhow false advertising. School gear is a gentle form of bragging; why can’t they brag about the best school they wentvto, if that’s what they want to do? |
You truly sound nuts. |
Seems like you deserve to be proud of your achievement at both schools. |
