DA vs ECNL vs everything else

"Will be the first to recommend DD moves up/on to more competitive situations"

litmus test for a great coach.
and playing up at a no-name club under a coach like that on a team that struggles to win half its games = PRICELESS.

Arlington isn't getting GDA.

Where they informed or is this educated speculation?

Not PP but Arlington should know by now and someone always leaks on DCUM
PPs seem to think they will probably only get a U13 team because they snubbed WS last year and made it harder for USSDA to have a reach inside the beltway

So, speculation. it's possible ASA doesn't know yet. I think if it's a yes, even for a limited GDA, that will be shouted from the rooftops quickly. If it's a 'no', Arlington will need to figure out its messaging to existing teams and players to try not to lose girls to ECNL and DA teams. Although, to echo various PPs, if the Arlington teams can stay together and get into showcases where college coaches will be, that's probably just as good for those girls as being on an ECNL or DA team.

Are you joking? Why would ASA apply for a FULL Girls DA if they thought what they had was just as good?

Drink the kool-aid

ASA thinks it owns its players and everyone must stay will be the messaging you get

Back when they tried that MYS ASA partnership for the ECNL there was an ASA fact sheet posted here that made its ownership mentality clear

"What this partnership is not:
- ASA is not merging its girls Travel program with MYS
- ASA is not giving away its best female players. Participants stay with their native clubs, and
some may be dual-rostered to provide maximum flexibility and opportunity.
- ASA is not forcing its players to play with MYS’s ECNL teams. No one has to participate in this
program."

How did that MYS-ASA partnership work out? Anyone know?

I don’t know of anyone from Arlington that did this.

At that time U13 was pre-ECNL. The program reads quite nicely and looks like it was geared for U11 - U13 girls only, so was the plan to jointly groom and then go over to Mclean ECNL at U14 if one wanted? Why did no one do this?

There were definitely kids that left Arlington and went to McLean ECNL teams. Don't know if this program had anything to do with it as those kids could have just as easily gone to McLean without the program.
And there have been Arlington players that switched to BRYC's ECNL teams, which obviously had nothing to do with the ASA-MYS relationship.

With the program you stayed w Arlington and practiced with McLean ECNL according to linked document. Not the same as joining the McLean ECNL team.

No one is traveling from Arlington to Mclean for ECNL anymore, so I doubt this program ever existed beyond paper, and if it still does, it doesn't even make sense anymore. Today it is all about DA. Both Boys and Girls. Arlington wants DA for Girls same as Boys. Mclean is just turning Green teams into ECNL teams. Players outside their zip have tons of options today. If Arlington will lose players, it will NOT be due to Girls and and some new Boys ECNL there. It will be to Braddock if they can get their act together, or Spirit, if fams can work a carpool. Mclean just endlessly tweets about its big name hires -- Harkes, Murray, Krieger, Drake, Moreno, Korb, etc. -- that come for a while and eventually leave. If Arlington gets negged on girls DA it needs a better option/partner going forward. Please.

I guess we will see you back on the CCL pitch then.

It's really a shame the MYS ECNL 04s can't compete in CCL . . .

So true on MYS. The number of people there earning 6 figures is disgusting. Hope no one there preaches about the problems with pay to play.

I am trying to understand these comments, please explain. Are you saying :
- that 6 figures is a high salary for this area?
- that a good soccer coach should not be well compensated for his/her expertise, even if it is in high demand ?
- that big names can't possibly be good coaches?
- that good coaches should not be allowed to change clubs as generally all soccer coaches do?
