Thanks. What is the population? The national population? The MCPS population? The population of students who tested? A PP on this thread says it's 99% for national norms.

why are you on this thread?

3000 students tested for 200 total spots and 100 total WL

Is this a thread only for parents of current fifth-graders who applied to the Takoma Park or Eastern MS magnet programs?

Yes, but with 200 slots and 133 elementary schools in the county, there's still likely to be only 1-2 students per home school (both the "underperforming" and "high performing" schools) getting accepted.

What kind of test scores (from the special test administered to select 5th graders) does the student who is admitted typically have?

We received a rejection letter today. The letter says there are only 100 slots available at each of the two schools.

Yep - your child will have better odds getting into Harvard - it's a crap shoot, and a stressful one at that. Sorry you got a rejection letter. I am expecting the same result in the mail today as well.

There are not GPAs in Elementary schools. You are probably the old guy in pjs who has no kids. Go away.

I am assuming that since you only supplied Map-M that he was applying to Takoma Park. I imagine the competition for TP is especially fierce this year. Good luck in your home school - I am sure he will be fine - he sounds like a good kid with motivated parents, and he will succeed no matter where he is. And I am sure that he will find friends at the same level in his home middle school.

Yep, my kid is at a HGC, composite score of 99% on test...break down was verbal 99%, quantitative 95%, nonverbal 92%, composite 99%...high MAP scores. Rejected at both. We are in an eastern part of the county.

Anyone know how many people from Beverly Farms were admitted this year? I have heard it usually just about everyone that applies in prior years due to the overall excellence of our school? We are waiting by our mailbox! DS is very smart.
