There are lots of people awaiting MS magnet results who frequent this board. I agree that it is odd that there is only 1 report.

It's great that everyone has opportunity to access magnet program. But where did that one student got the info about enrollment.

Sounds like rest of us need to wait till next Saturday.

No one I know has heard yet nor have heard about any delays beyond the "letters mailed after the ninth"

Yeah, me too. I think clearly they weren't mailed on Friday, since no one seems to have received notice yet, (I'm discounting the poster who claimed there was an acquaintance who was notified). So maybe it won't even be this week!

No updates so far from MCPS or school about Roberto Clemente MS magnet acceptance letter. They are still saying it will ve available mid February.

MCPS division office has the standard voice mail announcing, they will be avlbl mid Feb. keep continuing your fingers crossed.

Whoops. I am the OP who posted about the kid who got in both. Sorry that I did not check the thread after I posted.

I spoke to the mom today. Their ES principal called them at home to congratulate them about it AND they got a letter too.

Ugh. I am the poster who wrote about the child who got in both. The child is an URM and has all the societal disadvantages that you can possibly think of. The Principal of the ES called and informed this child and the mom told me today that they got a letter too. Why would they lie? For God's Sake PEOPLE!!!

BTW - the ES is not a HGC. Only a few kids got in from that school and the Principal is aware who got in. Sheesh!!! Also, I am an Asian with kids in test-in magnet program, and I actually like the fact they are doing universal testing. I have guided this person from the time her child entered MCPS and she has done very well in listening to the advice. Her child is flourishing. Now the only thing that I am worrying about is that this child will need access to a computer at home if she wants to be successful in MSCS at TPMS.

They should. It is a real success story with a very dedicated single mother who has the language barrier and is working in menial jobs at minimum wages. The determination is amazing and while all kinds of stuff is happening around them in their social circle - teen pregnancy, poverty, illegal immigration, broken homes, sexual abuse, drugs - this mom is doing everything that she can to protect her child and be involved at the school, while battling the influence of her own social circle. This is a poster child for how the system works when MCPS and the parent both do their best.
