PP, you're interfering with the narrative of "MCPS is the worst school district in the worst county ever!!!!!!!" |
You can STFU yourself, asshole. You have no idea if I am a SAHM or WOHM. However, the WOHMS who make digs at SAHMs get what is coming to them. None of these parents seem to care about the safety of the students or the fact that a bus accident can kill children. The major grousing is about daycare. I am sorry but the lives of students is more important than some stupid boohooing by some bitch. |
No you don't. My parents live off of Layhill, and we compare notes when it snows. Olney always has more snow. Always. |
Not really, MCPS imagines itself a leader - sometimes true in the worst ways. |
Are PG and Howard county schools better than MCPS schools? I have heard good things about Howard County Schools. |
Agree that MCPS has to worry about more than just their own bus drivers. My DC goes to a private in DC; no delay or closure today, so I just did a commute from Rockville to DC and back. There are many idiots driving at normal speeds (speeding), tailgating, etc. as if it is a normal day. No recognition that bridges, etc. can be icy and you have no warning. THIS is the big difference between bad weather here and in the mid-west where I grew up. |
This is why we’re moving. This county is too big, and it shines on the exterior bc it’s a PR machine. Soon to implode! |
I'm picturing an overweight cigarette smoking hausfrau in yoga pants from target and an oversized Disney t-shirt. The cursing says it all: Suzy is unhappy with her life, and eager to fight with anyone who will engage. Let's pray for Suzy...and her kids. Hope they aren't guzzling Mountain Dew and double fisting Cheetos. |
There wasn't just one last week. Somehow the one in Potomac in mentioned non stop and on the news, and in Olney 2,3 busses slid and demolished bunch on mail boxes, and some kids were flying out of their seats, but let's focus on the Potomac?! |
+ 1. Moving from Mid-West to DC made me realize that the biggest problem is that people do not know how to drive carefully in cold weather. However, we can't let accidents happen because of the general inaptitude of drivers here. MCPS is right in closing schools today. |
Ok well if it hadn’t been icy, his error would not have put him in a ditch. Blaming the bus driver is fine, but it doesn’t erase the end result or somehow make it better. MCPS doesn’t want to be explaining to parents how their child’s injuries were the result of bad bus driving, they want no injuries in the first place.
And it’s not just the bus drivers, they have to worry about all the others, too. About 15 years ago there was a huge accident on Muncaster Mill—truck with bad brakes skidded, crossed the center line, hit a bus from Mill Creek Towne ES head on. MCPS bus driver was killed, 3 students in critical condition. I think they’re over cautious but then I’m not the one who would get sued. any "professional driver" has been trained that when the weather changes your driving habits have to change. it is also common sense. The driver failed to take the most basic steps. The Muncaster Mill incident would have happened in dry weather as well. a vehicle with bad brakes isn't going to stop in clear weather or bad weather. |
You're moving to DC, right? It's smaller, and it's less dependent on driving. |
+2 Some idiot was beeping at me for driving slowly during one of the previous snowstorms when schools were closed and roads weren't plowed yet. Office was still open. Cars were stranded on the side of the road. But moron was driving over the speed limit as if all was normal. |
I looked into it and the next snow day will add June 13 as a school day. Jan 26 is also identified and it's a half day they would convert to a full day. I like that option but who knows if we'll have another snow day by then. |

Muncaster Mill is one of the most dangerous streets in the county. So many fatal accidents on that road over the last few decades. |
