Offspring Discussion Thread-SPOILERS

PP - I watched Lovesick on Netflix after Offspring and I absolutely loved it. It's a quick watch - just 3 seasons and the episodes aren't long. It's very funny and you cheer for all the characters. I know this is heresy, but I liked it as much as Offspring.

I agree with the person who commented that they thought Billie was selfish and they had a female crush on Nina. Nina was so much more accomplished than Billie yet Billie made her always feel inferior. That family was constantly dumping their problems on her and not ever seeing what they were doing. Great story line. I think if I had a sister like that I would have drowned her at birth, even tho Nina is younger. Saddest I’ve ever felt watching a tv show was when Patrick died, Zoe painted over their pictures together and the stillbirth. Tears were flowing down my face watching those episodes 💔 One of the best series I’ve ever watched. Actually watching it for a second time.

I agree that the last two seasons were weird and didn’t do the rest of the show justice. In my opinion, the two missteps were breaking up Mick and Billie and the way they handled Darcy’s death and funeral. Didn’t love the Harry actor, mostly because I didn’t think he had chemistry with Nina. Kept hoping that Chris Havel was going to re-appear.

TED talks and books. Seriously. I needed to drama detox after Offspring!

Crash Landing. It's different enough that it wont have you comparing to Offspring. But give it a couple episodes and you''ll feel your heart starting to recover. After those 2, I go nothing. Nothing compares (assuming you've already seen relative oldies Friday Night Lights, Gilmore Girls, The Office and Downton Abbey)

I’m so glad someone commented on this old thread because I just binged all 7 seasons and could not find a decent discussion anywhere!

I read that Seasons 6 and 7 were with different writers. The show was basically cancelled and Season 5 was supposed to be the ending. So that’s why everyone feels like the last two seasons were off. It was so weird how they were like “eh” when Darcy died and how Philip just went MIA. And also how Billie just was like “eh” about her marriage ending.

I did not like Patrick much, but I still found his death gut wrenching. Nina loved him, so I was grieving for her and what she believed she lost. I also think it’s so rare to be surprised like this since everything is usually spoiled for us. In Australia, apparently they had tons of “who will die???” teasers.
