Also, only a few miles away from several metro stations. After all the issues with the Red Line (with the accident recently), it's been great that we have options. 20853 is in between both red lines, so both are easily accessible - e.g. Glenmont or Twinbrook

After all the hoopla about how schools like Einstein were as good as any other MCPS, one sees that there were 53 National Merit Semi-Finalists this year at Blair, 19 at Wootton, 17 at Whitman and 11 at Churchill, and none at Einstein, Kennedy or Wheaton. It doesn't appear that as many Einstein students who baby sit will be going to Princeton this year.

It's "great" to see prejudice and racism still alive and kicking on this forum. Thanks for the insightful comments.

I'm not the poster you quote. I don't understand your sarcasm and snark. Care to explain yourself? How is it racist to note the NM semifinalists at various schools (which all are pretty diverse, I believe)?

I don't think anyone has said that schools "like Einstein" (whatever that means) are as good as any other MCPS school. We all know that the quality of schools vary within the county. I think that the point people were making was that kids who are motivated and have good support and resources at home can do as well as Einstein (or MCPS schools "like Einstein") as they would at Whitman (or schools "like Whitman"), in terms of getting into and succeeding at college and beyond.

I'll also point out that it is not necessary to be a National Merit Semi-Finalist in order to be admitted to Princeton (or schools "like Princeton"). I was not a National Merit Semi-Finalist and went to Harvard, then Yale Law.

But you would not deny that such a kudos might help in the admission's race to prestigoius institutions...after all such and accomplishment is simply a surrogate for academic performance in general?

Of course it would help, and it may serve as a surrogate for academic performance in general. It is not, however, by any means the only entree to the Ivys (or "schools like that"), or the only route to success.

Of course. No one suggested that. Another way into the Ivies is to donate a building with your name on it.

This isn't a real conversation, obviously, so I'm done.

You must have a lot of time on your hands.

Have you heard of the phenomenon of multi-tasking? Life is not just limited by only a pair of hands.

To all those convinced that schools like Wooton are the only good way to educate your kids.... they might be getting more than you bargained for!
