Have you ever been the victim of road rage?

Anonymous
I had a guy blow his horn at me because he thought I was driving to slow. I was trying to make a left turn and wasn't sure of where I was going and he could have easily gone around. I flipped him off and he proceeded to follow me closely for miles after I missed my turn. I drove as slow as I possibly could and called the police. He ended up driving off though.

But in general I do not get mad when people cut me off or drive to slow. I simply move along and recognize that people aren't always going to drive perfectly because I know I sure don't.

Yep. when bad road rage happens to me, I call #77 on the cell while they are following me. It actually hasn't happened in a long time but I had a few incidents when I was young. Guys following, gesturing, etc. But yes call the cops immediately and drive to a public place or better yet a police station. And film, film, film anything that happens.

Considering I wasn't really even hurt the two previous times I did it, it's pretty unlikely that I'll be killed the next time I do it.

But thanks for wishing DEATH on someone who won't put up with bullying from other drivers.

That really says a lot about you. A lot.

I hope you're tailgating me one day, and I'm driving another beater of a car. Because you'll end up paying me too, just like the two other asshats.

You are worse than road rage because you create road rage. One never knows about car accidents and the next time may be the proverbial "third time is the charm." Could be your epitath. You are a disgrace.

He was tailgating me, I stomped on my brakes, which really made him mad. Then he passed me, and cut in front of me and stopped. He got out of his truck and started walking back towards my car, gesturing for me to get out and fight him. So I started reversing, and backing up. I backed up like 150 feet, slowly, with him following me and cussing at me the whole way. Then I put the car in gear and pulled left, wide around him, trying to get away. As I passed him, he punched my side mirror and broke it.

That REALLY pissed me off, and I noticed his driver door was open on his truck. So I aimed right for it and hit it, folding it forwards against the front of his truck.

In hindsight, this turned out to be brilliant, because he couldn't follow me now, since his truck was undrivable because of the door hanging forwards.

If you're ever in this situation, do what I did.

Except call the cops afterwards, because I never did.

wow. but didn't you damage your car doing that? and wouldn't he have called the cops to report you?

Pretty much all of my victimhood is concentrated between age 16-18. I drove nice cars and probably looked at of 12 years old. I think it rubbed people the wrong way. I had a mentally disturbed guy fish tail in front of me to block me and stop traffic on a 5 lane thoroughfare. I thought he was going to shoot me.

Cops were called, they were charged with following too closely, failure to avoid a crash. I was never charged with anything, even when the people who hit me told the police officer I did it intentionally. I said I braked as hard as I could because I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye about to run into the road. I can't help if they couldn't stop, it wasn't my concern.

The two times they hit me, my car was damaged beyond value ("totaled", because it was a crappy older car and not worth anything) and I used my PIP insurance to run up the bills for physical therapy. I wasn't hurt, but I wanted to run the bill up, because in Maryland, the typical settlement for an at-fault accident is about 3x the medical

So for one crash I got $36,000 and the other I got $22,000, minus 34% to my attorney. So I made out ok.

I have a nice car now, so I probably won't do it now, but if I'm ever driving a beater again, I'll do it if I'm provoked.

Psycho or not, she makes a compelling case for not tailgating people, lolz!

It's also sort of amusing that people who claim to dislike tailgaters and aggressive driving get absolutely crazy angry when someone admits they lash out against them. This makes me think that maybe the people condemning this woman for going after tailgaters are actually tailgaters or aggressive drivers themselves, and are furious that someone might dare do that to them one day when they're tailgating someone.

I have had a few incidents like that and they are always terrifying. Mental illness is a very real thing

+1000

You are just as bad. Also, just because you haven't been cited yet for deliberately causing an accident, doesn't mean you will get off so easy next time.

Though, no one should be tailgating either. But you aren't in control of them, you can only control yourself and your own behavior.

Here, in just a few months of living in Nova I have been followed twice/aggressively tailgates. I didn't even cut people off. One time I was driving the speed limit and the other time I didn't move fast enough when the light turned. It wasn't even during rush hour.

People in the D.C. area (most specifically VA and WVA) are the most insane, mentally ill drivers in the country.

It might be just a higher number of lawyer/government assholes ruining it for everyone.

24YO here and people in general are just ruder and meaner in this area. I feel like I've become a nastier person just from living here. People suck.

DC pizzing contest. A bunch of grown adults acting like children.

As someone who grew up in DC- yes it is worse there. And getting worse every day. It seems to attract a particular kind of insane, power hungry transplant which means horrible drivers. Every time I have to visit home and drive I am so thankful to have moved out!

I have a friend who is a very muscular young guy. Some jerk was tailgating him and following him. My friend tried to lose him for maybe ten minutes, and the guy would not let up.

Finally my friend decided- okay, let's have the show down. So he pulls over into a grassy area (away from the road) and the guy follows.

Of course, my friend opens the door and steps out and the guy, who (ofc) was a little middle aged fat man, speeds off.

Pretty funny. Kind of one of those stories that makes you wish you were a dude

No. Don't tailgate at all. While tailgating is rude and potentially dangerous, what this poster claims to have done is unethical and borders on criminal.
