Why do voters in the red states think Trump is going to solve all of their problems? They already have Republican mayors, governors, state legislatures, congressmen and senators and yet, things are still bad for them. If they really want change, why not enact it on the local level? Why do they think Trump will change anything? I see no explanation for it beyond being brainwashed by Fox News and the Alt Right and not having the brain power to really think about their lot.

Garrison Keillor has said it best:

We liberal elitists are now completely in the clear. The government is in Republican hands. Let them deal with him. Democrats can spend four years raising heirloom tomatoes, meditating, reading Jane Austen, traveling around the country, tasting artisan beers, and let the Republicans build the wall and carry on the trade war with China and deport the undocumented and deal with opioids and we Democrats can go for a long brisk walk and smell the roses.

I will enjoy my tax cuts under Trump and if none of those people are better off in 4 years. Not my problem.

I am actually sick of hearing the people in red states being called uneducated. The entire USA is red, except for the larger cities. Not having a college degree, is not equal to uneducated and I am sure there are plenty of college educated people in the red states. College education gives you a job, that is pretty much it! Why are 18 yrs old's allowed to vote if they are not smart enough to elect a president without a college education? This is America. There shouldn't be uneducated people in this country. Then that is our biggest problem, which has not been fixed but all the "great" presidents we have had so far. Stop calling people uneducated.

This rant pretty much exemplifies why people need an education - half of it was unintelligible.

DP. No it wasn't. Your laugh-and-point attitude lost you one election. How many more you wanna lose?

You don't get it do you? Yes, my candidate lost the election but I'm laughing to the bank either way. My taxes are going to be lower, I'm still living in the city of my dreams, and you know what...maybe I'll even watch the orange demon at the inauguration. It's all gravy and when the next election comes around I'll put my money into an actual dem candidate chosen by the people.

Don't count on it. Bush lowered them beyond reason so that most low/mid middle income etc. pay little to no federal income tax. Any further tax cut will not include the middle to lower middle so it would be about the worst move they could make. In fact, because they are going to automatically inherit increasing deficits, look up the projections, they aren't going to lower yours.

I think PP mainly wants their ego stroked, so you might be wasting your time.

Aww OP, are you feeling bitter about all of the stupid uneducated whites you despise giving you and your stuck up elitist ilk a huge comeuppance? Guess they are not so dumb and powerless after all. Boo hoo! Why don't you go off to your safe space and cry about it?

Yep. They mentioned their income several times. As if they thought people would be flabbergasted and amazed.

Some people are straight delusional.

Because Obama hasn't solved them. You're throwing a hissy fit because things didn't go your way. Better think about the fact that people are genuinely hurting, and neither party has come up with a compelling response to their problems.

You are also dumb because most Democrats - like most people in this country, actually - cannot afford the $4/pound heirloom tomatoes. Or roses.

Yes, Obama hasn't solved them nor will any president on their own. My point is that if they are so dissatisfied with government, why not throw out all the bums who govern them from the local level to the national level? What has having control of the House and Senate for most of the past 22 years done for them? Clearly, nothing.

Anyone find a good source for heirloom tomato seeds? And which varieties are you going to try this year? The Brandywine looks good.

Also, I think I'll take up knitting. Any local shops with good classes? My first project will be a scarf that says "Living the good life" in different shades of blue. Or red. Guess I'm an R now.

Any estimates for tax cuts in the $700k HHI range? I want to start travel planning and that will help me figure out Four Seasons v. Rosewood.

Also, what HHI do you need to reach to pay zero taxes? At least 7 figures, right?

In order to make yourself feel superior, a meme is going around that Trump won because all the uneducated people voted for him. Not true. Here is a breakdown of the results:

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/clinton-couldnt-win-over-white-women/

CLINTON/ TRUMP
White men 31% /63%
White women 43 /53
White women college graduates 51 /45
White women non-college graduates 34 /62
White men college graduates 39 / 54
White men non-college graduates 23 /72

For white college graduates, Trump received 54% of the men and 43% of the women. That is quite close to an even split. So for anyone to say "All the smart people voted for Clinton" is completely false. Now, It is true Trump received more votes from the uneducated, and small wonder: they are constantly insulted and treated badly by Democrats. What the statistics will never show is the number of high school dropout blacks who voted for Clinton.

Just accept the fact Clinton was a horrible candidate. Especially amusing was her trying to appear moral in contrast to Trump but she is backed by Beyonce and Madonna, two of America's biggest ho's What a joke.

Here is a tip, Democrats: when trying to paint yourself as a pillar of chastity and purity, don't pick the Sex, Drug, Rock & Roll crowd to represent you.

That is all.

It is true. We tried to be good. We tried to help them. Now, let's just enjoy how fabulously wealthy we will be with all those tax cuts, have great meals, enjoy the arts, and hang out in trendy cafes.

I am a big supporter of ACA or at least keeping it and fixing the issues. I have been paying 30 to 33% in taxes for the past 10 yrs which has been supporting many of our veterans, schools, some of the Trump supporters.

Now, I'll enjoy my tax cuts and lower healthcare premiums. I will spend my money on vacations overseas. I will do what Trump supporters have been asking for - let Trump's government deal with it all.

You make me sick. You are not a real liberal at all.

/ someone who also pays a 33% tax rate and is sick and utterly appalled at the thought of paying less. It should be much more. Close to 50% probably (We make around 700k).

So what is stopping you from contributing more? If it "makes you sick" to pay less in taxes, donate (without writing it off). it makes me laugh when a family makes 700k/year and is okay with high taxes. Yeh, if my husband and I made that much it wouldn't be an issue! Instead, we're struggling to pay our mortgage, support our children, save for college, etc. because of high tax rates. Have extra to spare? Donate more to the community. Trump isn't stopping you from giving up more than 33% of your large paycheck.

I don't have enough eye rolls for this. You must have been one of the under educated deplorables in this election. We do donate to charity, idiot, and that will certainly be increasing if our taxes are cut, but I happen to believe in the value of research which shows that the federal government has more reach, knowledge of where the money should go, and capability of getting it there on a national level than my local food bank or battered women's shelter.

Hop back into your basket deplorable.

Count me in at one of the 25% of hispanics who voted for Trump.

This is my first time voting as a proud US citizen and im college educated.

I came from a socialist country, I know what misery that beings. I woukd never vote for a candidate who espouses scoalist values.
