Can someone recommend an itinerary? Interested in visiting Kenyon, Oberlin, and Denison, and maybe Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan.

We did this a few years ago. Consider going when they have their annual Six College Tours event:

If you are driving from DC, visit them in this order:

Denison -> Ohio Wesleyan -> Kenyon -> Wooster -> Oberlin

Looking at the map, this makes the most sense.

It might be a lot to hit them all in two days. Add a third day so that you don't get too burnt out.

My DC looked at all of them a few years ago, and is a very happy rising sophomore at one of them now. The only one that DC wasn't crazy about was Kenyon, for some reason. Not sure why. I do think it's a bit more isolated than the others. DC could have been happy and done well at any one of them.

We did Denison - Wooster - Kenyon in one trip over 3 days then she did the Oberlin regional fly-in on her own later because we couldn't get to it on our tour. She liked Denison the best on the tour but ended up loving Oberlin and will be a first year there in the fall. Enjoy the trips!

For places to stay we loved the Denison Inn downtown and there was this place called the Gambier Loft on the Kenyon site that is a guest house run by a very nice couple (and it's adorable). At Oberlin they have a great hotel on Canpus with a really good restaurant that I'd recommend.

I went to Case Western Reserve, so I can't help you with liberal arts schools, but most of the people I know who attended them stayed in Ohio. They were originally from Ohio, but I remember recruiting being mostly for regional companies or regional divisions of national companies.

Any thoughts on Mount Union?

Not at Oberlin. It's called first year, but thanks for the rude correction.

Visiting Miami of Ohio. Would like to als check out a few of the liberal arts schools. Can someone suggest an itinerary? Have from Saturday through Tuesday to fit things in.

I work with a brilliant person who went to John Carroll in Cleveland. He's the only person I've ever met who went there, but if he's a typical representation of the school, it must be good.

It's funny to me how the DMV has just "discovered" all these great schools in Ohio. The country will be so much better off the more of these East Coast elites are exposed to Midwestern sensibilities and Midwester nice.

So what East Coast city are you from?

Yes, I'm an East Coast elitist snob, but certainly learning the error of my ways. For those in the know, please let me know of your impressions of Oberlin, Kenyon, Denison, Wooster, Ohio Wesleyan...did I miss any? Is there a stereotypical student at each one?

Not liberal arts, but you should add Miami and Case. Two excellent schools that seem very popular with kids in the DMV.

DP ... it's pretty small, and Alliance is a shit hole. The campus itself is nice, of course, but the town it's in is just used car lot, pawn shop, fast food, fast food, used car lot, payday loans, as far as the eye can see. Oberlin is much closer to Cleveland which is beneficial.

That's good to hear. I grew up a little over a mile from it but it never occurred to me to go there and I know nothing about it, just that it's Catholic.

Would you put Denison in the same category as Oberlin/Kenyon?

No, it's not but it gives better merit to students who aren't tippy top so it still can draw some smart kids. It's also much more of a preppy school, and more mainstream. Go visit and you'll see the differences.
