ALL of the dogs slipped out? There was more than one. But even if that was the case, then the issue is that mom left the kids alone not in the house, but to wander around outside in a strange neighborhood. That is 1000x more reason for CPS to get involved so you're right - maybe that is what happened. |
For the purposes of NOT BEING ARRESTED it is whatever the law of the state is. |
In Delaware, it's apparently 12. |
Sorry, that was supposed to be where I was growing up, not when. Which was DMV suburbia, but YMMV. |
NP: it's not 8 and 9 at a vacation rental. I'd use double digits as a starting point. 10 and 11? Maybe. I'm guessing something else triggered this. |
Everybody, PP here knows how to get your dog to always behave like you want it to! I'm so excited! Tell me where your dog learned to behave perfectly. I'm dying to take my dog to that same particular trainer! Contact info please! |
I think the law is stupid. I can't say for sure if the kids were really too immature or not because the story doesn't provide enough detail. But it is the law, so the fault is on the mom. |
Has it occurred to any of you there might be more to the story? The link says she was 5 miles away getting food at a restaurant. Maybe she was gone a long time and the kids told someone. Maybe when they found her they saw she had been sitting at the bar of the restaurant drinking and had been there for quite awhile. I find it hard to believe the entire story is "good mom goes to restaurant real quick for food, immediately arrested for leaving kids unattended on beach." There surely were mitigating circumstances and details to result in arrest and being charged. |
Most people know how to keep their dog in the house or at least from opening the door itself. |
+1. |
Okay. So not nine. But ten is okay. Got it. |
She said starting point. Obviously it depends on the kids. Kids who are outside, with their dogs running in front of cars, telling strangers they're home alone - NOT READY. |
Um, try again, pp. Not *8.* Those kids are 8 and 9. Too young. 10 and 11 might not have triggered the same response. |
10 & 11 year olds also would likely not be letting their dogs out and/or in the road themselves, nor would they be telling strangers they're home alone. A couple of years DOES make a big difference at this age. |
Now I'm sad. ![]() You're not going to share the name of your miraculous dog trainer? |
