Weird. Meredith McIver's internet life appears to begin 15 hours ago. It's possible she's just a luddite. But given Trump's previous alternate media personas...

Oh, wow. I laughed at the upthread photo of Trump but what kind of "communications expert" and former ballerina has zero public persona. No social media. No Linked In. No old articles about a local girl making it big in the city as a ballerina.

This is amazing.

Omg. Too funny if this turns out to be true!

As of 2005, McIver existed.

Maybe she is really reclusive.

That's not proof that she exists. That's proof that Trump used the same name for something in 2005. You'll note the NYT author didn't talk to her or anything.

And Twitter is once again on point. Sightings of the elusive MM include everything from the Loch Ness monster to the Abominable Snowman I am dying here

This year's POTUS race has been a series of "truth is stranger than fiction".

+1 It's well known that Trump takes on aliases and calls into news outlets pretending to be someone else.

It is even better than that. It sounds like Melania actually read the phrases to the speechwriter over the phone. She obviously knew they were Michelle's words.

But there is the underlying issue that Melania did not graduate from college (Although The Donald has promoted that she has). Maybe she does not know what plagiarism is? [I doubt this - but he let's give her the benefit of the doubt]

Oh sure. You need a college degree to know that when you give a speech on TV, don't copy word for word from the speech of someone who presented on a similar occasion.

Maybe I would buy that if she had just read all of Michelle Obama's speech and sat down.

Excuse me, but Trump has stated that Melania is educated, and we all know he always speaks the truth and is never prone to exaggerate.

I think we need to see her birth certificate. In long form.

So now they have their fall guy (gal in this case), yet I hear Republicans insist it's not important. They know good and damn well if this had been Clinton they would NOT have been able to contain themselves.
Yep, the plagiarism wasn't as important as the fact that the campaign staff behaved amateurishly in their failure to contain the scandal. And these people are going to run the country? We're in trouble.

As entertaining as all this has been (and gratifying to learn that Melania Trump admires Michelle Obama) I really do shudder at the very idea of this kind of circus atmosphere going on beyond November. There are some very serious issues a president has to address and there's just no confidence that Donald Trump can or will face any of them. His toolbox does not have what it takes.

Methinks someone doesn't understand how to keep sensitive information safe, but it's not Clinton. Reminder: lots of people, at State, the CIA, etc., send emails to each other, and Clinton's server wasn't hacked. Unlike other government servers...

LOL! You don't even realize that classified information does not go on "normal" government servers. And, we do not know that her server was not hacked. Comey suggested that it was likely that it was hacked--he said there was no "definitive" proof--but that there would not necessarily be proof available. Many intelligence specialists have said publicly that it was very likely hacked.

And, FWIW, yes, lots of people send emails to each other--but it does not include (or should not include) classified information. And, since Clinton was the head of State dept, it was her responsibility. FAIL.

a. The speechwriter took full responsibility
b. The speechwriter is a woman
c. Trump did not fire her

....Because, if he had fired her, y’all would be prattling on and on about how he hates women.........

But I thought there was nothing to take responsibility for? I thought these were "common phrases"?

They are common phrases. That's why the writer didn't even bother to go back to check and Melania said it with ease.

Millions of Americans work hard for what they want in life. Whoops, sorry Michelle for infringe on your patents.

Aren't you the folks who were saying yday it wasn't even plagiarism, some said Hillary planted it, some others said Hillary is spreading a lie. Atleast be graceful and be quiet when you are exposed and keep some dignity intact.

agree!!!! And the people in her position before her used their own email too. Now one of Trump's insane advisors wants her shot for treason. He should be put in jail for inciting violence.
