Even when DC was majority black most of the top earners here are white. (Still are) 90% of NW DC and in all the new gentrified areas are non people of color.

Historically HR was that department that minority hires were recruited for so that they could appear diverse. Once in that area it's pretty dead end career wise.

My company's HR dept is very diverse but there are zero straight white men. When I was in college a decade ago, the HR majors were mostly white girls looking to get an Mrs. Degree.

^^I agree with that poster. There may be poor whites in DC but there aren't a lot of them. Especially when you look at areas down south and WV where there are lots of poor white people and huge areas of poor white neighborhoods.

As for HR jobs, there is nothing wrong with working in HR. I have a degree in Math but I worked a short stint in HR and I really loved it. I can only speak for where I worked but I found the job to be a lot of fun and definitely great for those who thrive on people interaction. It's really a job that attracts a lot of women moreso than a particular race.
