That reminds me that TJ had roughly twice as many NMSFs than Blair and RM combined. Why are there so few high-achieving students left in Montgomery County? So sad.

If TJ kids are Blair/RM level, they should have 5x more - over 200kids. Do they?

If Montgomery kids were at the Fairfax level, the county would have more students in magnet programs and far more NMSFs. But they don't, which is why TJ alone has more NMSF than all of MCPS.

TJ kids are from 5 different school districts, not just Fairfax.

Fairfax accounts for about 80 to 85% of the TJ students.

Come back after you find out how many of 162 kids are actually from FCPS. Fairfax having 80 % of of TJ kids doesn't mean 80% of NMSF are from Fairfax.

Even if Fairfax kids only accounted for 50%, that would still be twice as many as Blair and RM combined.

For RMIB, they all are. For Blair, someone posted most are but not all.

That's fist factually correct thing you said. Given it is 5x bigger, I sure hope they produce more... But still lower percentage of overall size. No matter how you cut it, TJ is still third where it belongs.

The only thing TJ is third on is a national ranking of high schools where RM and Blair are ranked 193rd and 500th, respectively.

TJ dropped to 3rd? No longer the first??

So, 3rd in NMSF in DC area and 3rd in ranking too?

TJ kids are beaten by magnet kids from ranked 193rd and 500th schools? How embarrassing.

Not nearly as embarrassing as the fact that the magnet programs at RM and Blair are just a few classrooms of Asian kids in two otherwise mediocre schools, while TJ is regularly identified as one of the top HS in the country.

In order to sell magazines or push internet hits, the list has to change every year or else it would not be remotely newsworthy (not that it is very newsworthy to start)

No. Ranked No. 1 by Newsweek 2 years in a row and TJ has the most NMSF of any high schools in the world!

TJ has a higher percentage of kids as nmsf as well. TJ has about 36 % (163/450), Blair science magnet has about 33 %, RM IB has about 35%.

This is mothing new. Go back and do a historical comparison, you will find ib and blair magnet kids always had higher percentage of NMFS. Not just this year.
