Nope. She was responsible for getting arrested.

"Texas lawmakers who reviewed dashcam footage of the arrest of Sandra Bland confirmed Tuesday that she was "threatened" with a Taser during a traffic stop — and believe that she should never have been arrested.

"Once you see what occurred, you will probably agree with me that she shouldn't have been taken into custody," state Sen. Royce West said at a news conference held before the dashcam video was made public."

Have you seen the dash cam footage? It made me sick. That cop was so out of line. He abused his authority and was clearly angry that she was standing up for her rights. Even if she did kill herself its on him for creating the ridiculous illegal situation that led to it. He should be fired and prosecuted.

Agree that one should stand up for ones rights, but you have to pick your battles. I'm not picking sides here, but when stopped by police and asked to put out your cigarette, is that a right worth fighting for?

Did I miss part of the video, was he hateful to her first. We all know most cops are arrogant assholes. But we don't have to be belligerent back. Just do what they say and no one gets hurt.

So it's okay for the police to attack you for smoking in your car. Wow. WTF has happened to people in this country?

I think alot of posters here are absolving her from her actions. She is just as guilty as the police officer in contributing to a situation that should not have occurred.

It was a plastic bag.

Didn't know that my plastic trash bag designed for a little trash can could hold up that much weight, especially for an extended period of time.

There are some police officers that do have an attitude, but black or white, you be polite and comply and deal with the ticket/warning after the fact.

She esclated the the interaction...no sympthay for her.

You do know that what he pulled her over for was not a criminal offense, right? It was an infraction that is rarely enforced anywhere, except for pretextual stops.

In all earnest, I hope you get hit by a bus PP. No sympathy for you.

So the penalty for talking back to a cop is death? She is not just as guilty Bc she didn't do anything illegal. He's the one with the gun and taser.

Not one person on this board knows what she was thinking.

For all we know, she was trying to be some type of maryter to police against AA cause.

I do have sympathy for her, and it should not have ended this way. That said, in addition to police escalating the situation, she did her part in escalating it as well. It was a simple offence to which if she had politely complied, this would have ended very differently.

Did your crystal ball tell you that?

It's always the initial action that the defenders revert back to. NO, it's not ok to be attacked for smoking in your car. NO, it's not ok to be killed for stealing a bag of chips. But, she wasn't attacked for smoking in her car. She reacted in such a hostile way, she escalated everything. Do you actually excuse (and endorse) the blatant disrespect and anti-authoritarian stance she took?

If he has COPD he would not be a police officer, as he would be incapable of passing the biannual physical.
