I am a black man who occasionally browses this site. I am going to assume that this site attracts the outliers and not the average. But, it sure is disturbing to see the reaction when there is a perceived threat to standing and status.

The reaction isn't to perceived threat and status due to color. The huge influx of Hispanic immigrants are poor and often illiterate in their own language. The vast amount of resources needed to support them, despite their illegal status, takes resources from poor American citizens. I don't think that's fair in the least. The comments about learn to speak Spanish, etcetera, prove the goal is to take and dominate, not integrate. I have been in No VA, where they harbor illegals. I have seen quality of services go down while my taxes continue to go up. Businesses that hire these illegals no longer provide good service, and don't care, since they are aware you simply can't get better. I am hiring companies from out of Fairfax County now, including West Virginia, to avoid this.

People feel this way about every large wave of immigrants. The Irish were reviled. Same with the Italians. Everyone blends in just fine 50 years on. Just chill. Nobody's trying to dominate.

You should read some of the studies about 3rd generation Hispanic immigrants. They're not really integrating that well, and it will probably get much worse unless we do something about the illegal immigration problem. Unless you want to live in a country like Mexico or Honduras? In that case carry on.

Could you please link to these "studies?" I am sure they're not questionable in any way.

You're right pp, many of the Hispanic illegal aliens have no interest in assimilation. They want to turn the USA into the third world countries that they came from. They can have "the country", because in a few years, it will be ruined if they continue down this path. Most of us won't want it anymore. I know I won't. I'll move to my dh's home country and be an immigrant there. And I'll do my best to assimilate and show his country some respect, unlike the some of the immigrants that have been coming into the USA lately.

I think there are a ton of 2nd generation Hispanic immigrants in this area that aren't even close to "kicking ass". It's not me running scared, it's people actually looking at the performance of Hispanic immigrants. Your anecdotes don't really carry much weight.

Well, I certainly hope these studies are right rather than the earlier ones. Time will tell I guess.
