Atheist hypocrisy

First, you generalized from behavior in a few posts on DCUM to the behavior of all atheists-- that is just silly.

Second, you characterized some posts as going past snarky to insulting, and concluded that insulting someone in a DCUM thread is fundamentally inconsistent with being a good person. I am not going to say that's silly, but I don't think it's as self-evident as you seem to think.

(Also, I don't really know what posts you are talking about but I can certainly say that I have seen both sides-- people taking offense which I thought was not justified and people not being respectful. )

I can add to that.

Third, nobody likes to be criticized. They get their backs up, and then they'd rather pretend OP's an alky or hard to understand, then ask themselves if there's any truth to her accusations.

Fourth, trolls. (BTW, did anybody else notice that the worse troll didn't deny being from Peoria? In any case s/he didn't come back and say s/he's from Bethesda or Arlington or Rockville. That's interesting, to me and says something about what's driving some of the trolling.)

How did you interpret this? What is driving this trolling?

OK, I just went and re-skimmed the thread about teenagers doubting their faith. Yes, there's a lot of disrespect there. I don't know anyone would determine who is who though, or if anyone in particular is a repeat poster. (IE: Mentioning being good without God in one post and then belittling believers in another post.)

Question...

Why are atheists even being discussed in the Religion Forum?

Because they like to slink around here and rain on everyone's posts with their "intelligence and reasoning."

Christian Hypocrisy

note: Yes, of course some atheists are hypocrites. But that's not the subject of this thread. If you want to talk about atheist hypocrisy, there are a baziliion DCUM threads already dedicated to that subject. So you're welcome to take yourself to one of those threads and bash hypocritical atheists there. Let's stick to the header subject on this thread.

This thread is about those Christians who talk about being "blessed by God" and then slam atheists for being without morals. Or those CHristians who hijack discussions of atheism to talk about Creationism and the trinity and that oh-so-worn-out Blessed Virgin. Or the anti-pagan bigots (I'm not Pagan).

"Blessed by God"? It doesn't often seem that way. A handful of DCUM's Christians are thoughtful, introspective, and willing to engage in discussion. But the majority -- not so much.

Please, no comments defending Christians. That would be against the rules of this thread and I, the mighty OP, will personally affront any transgressor.

Discuss.

Start your own thread, loser. You must have a real bee in your bonnet about this thread. Also, it would have been possible to imitate OP without distorting his/her posts.
(1) no way are there a bazillion threads devoted to atheist hypocrisy. Don't be ridic.
(2) where is the contradiction between being "blessed" and thinking atheists can be rude and mean? This part doesn't make sense.
(3) please point to an example of Christians hijacking an atheist thread to talk about the Blessed Virgin or the Trinity. If such a thread ever existed. TIA!
(4) what's your beef with Christians? There are lots of different religions you could attack.
(5) where in the OP or elsewhere does it say nobody can defend atheists? It doesn't.
(6) can I derail your thread to talk about atheists being hypocrites anyway? That's exactly what you did, multiple times, to this thread.

Atheists keep telling us how smart they are. That stupid attempt at parody seems to prove the opposite.

I think because OP wanted to discuss atheists without being interrupted by said atheists.
Anonymous
OP should start a private blog for atheist haters. DCUM is not the place to give orders about how to respond on a blog.
Anonymous
This thread seems very threatening to some atheists. You dish it out but you can't take it.

I'd say there is a larger atheist presence on religion threads than believer representation. Then again, I suspect it's the same handful of posters who make it a game to pop up whenever a Christian thread begins.

Sounds like some Christian projection there. Why start a thread that expressly excludes a group of people who are being openly maligned?

From what I can see, not too many Christians got on the bandwagon, which I think is a good thing.

My guess is, Ranting Atheist is here and is posting multiple times, as usual.
