What do we think of Athleta?

Athleta for casual wear looks frumpy to me and is really just a step up from wearing yoga pants and a tshirt. It seems to be moms that want to wear something that they can run after their kids in and be supported, but they think because it's a dress or because its colorful, that they look like they've tried.

It's definitely not sexy - pp with those three dresses, I hate to break it to you. Everything is full coverage, thick stretchy looking material, holding you in, cross in the back stuff that looks athletic rather than stylish. The colors and patterns are dowdy and say late 30s to 40s mom to me.

Want to be comfortable and stylish and still able to run after your kids? The slim moms in well-fitting skinny or straight jeans, ballet flats or ankle boots, a tshirt and a scarf or fitted moto jacket have the same effect and for much cheaper than a bright patterned stretchy dress with a built-in bra.

But can you explain to us how you run after your kids with a stick up your ass?

Hey, the question up for debate was is Athleta "in" or "out"? Others have asserted that it's stylish and sexy. I disagree and I posted why. What did you want to post?

I get tired of reading on these boards the only way to be stylish/sexy is to wear skinny jeans and ballet flats, which I personally think look terrible on most women (and reads a little uptight). There is no "one size fits all" approach to looking good.

The other day I had lunch with my husband near his job, wearing my Athleta shorts and some random shirt. Later that day, his co-worker said to him: "Who did I see you having lunch with? Your girlfriend? I thought you were married." My husband said: "That was my wife." The guy said, "Oh, I thought it was some college kid you picked up." I'm 37, so this story obviously made my day (though, admittedly, maybe I was dressed a little casual). But you don't put on a pair of [insert brand here] shorts and automatically become frumpy/dowdy. There are plenty of frumps wearing ballet flats, skinny jeans, and scarfs. If you find something that flatters you--regardless of whether it's at the Gap or Nordstrom, or whether it is trendy or not--by all means, buy it.

Yeah, baby! Thanks for this post.

Super unflattering tops and dresses. Very little support or allowance for normal bras (for casual clothes - not the true athletic wear)

I have tried it but gave up when I saw it on friends and it just wasn't flattering.

I think you need to be really thin to even consider it. Since that's not me - I can't buy it.

Don't get yourself confused just because you loathe your own body. I love mine. There's nothing i would change about it. I won the genetic jackpot.

I can't imagine fat people shopping there. It's called Athleta for a reason.

Well I'm a 32DD and 5'10" and 140lbs and those clothes make my sexy figure look dowdy, which is quite a feat to accomplish, since my boobs can make walmart clothes look scandalous.

However, I think for the shapeleas it might be ok...since their dresses look like colorful potato sacks.

You are NOT the target audience of Athleta. So, naturally Athleta stuff won't fit you or look right on you. You might do better at Victoria Secret where heaving breasts are signature for their outfits

As the PP mentioned, their clothes are for the slender athletic type of women.

Here she comes...
Walking down the street,,,
Men stare at her chest and...
She thinks it's really neat!

Hey hey she's got big tits!
And she thinks it's really rad
It's the only thing that gets her attention
And that is really sad...

And I would sooooo much rather be the slim, athletic woman I am than some dumb chick with poor punctuation who apparently thinks her tits are her finest "accomplishment".

I've never seen anyone as impressed with her knockers as this loon.

Wait, if you have no boobs and look like a boy then you are the Athleta target audience?! No thanks.

What is sexy about that? Certainly not those who actually like that look!

Yea because 5'10" and 140 is not slim and athletic-OOOOOOK. The difference between you and her is you are shapeless and she probably has the body that stops men and women in their tracks. Which makes you and your ilk go crazy with envy, especially because she probably has had children as well. She has what only a fraction of the population could ever have.

Carry on green monster.

Yeah, that's it. Whenever I see Dolly Parton, I think, "Damn, why couldn't I look like her!"

Yea. Dolly Parton is built exactly like that, despite being a full foot shorter and 3 bra sizes larger. The poster is smaller than Kate Upton. Probably try a Bo Derek That's what a 32dd looks like on a tall frame.

The poster is probably some old man living in his grandmother's basement, flipping through JUGS while browsing DCUM.
