It is super preppy. Known as J Crew U. |
MY DS wants remote. He loves it. We're looking at Wiliams for that reason. I'm glad to hear that it's not too preppy. DS is at private school but isn't even remotely preppy. He just likes the outdoors and is an excellent student, and wants to be around other smart kids. But if your kid wants urban, Williams is going to kill him/her. It's very pretty, though. I don't think I could stand it, but I'm a NYC gal. I always thought of it as very preppy, though. |
What is PYG? I think of Vineyard Vines as ersatz prep! It says right on their website "Preppy Men's Clothing" Geeze. Why not say "Classy Men's Clothing"? Just as disgraceful in the true prep world. |
| Reed? Preppy? Even in 1980 that wasn't true. Is it possible that The Preppy Handbook was not actually the authority on all things preppy? |
| There's all kinds of preps. Reed attracts the prepsters who pretend to be uninterested in money and fashion |
| J Crew U is a term that is used for scores of colleges. |
| Hampden-Sydney College! It is the real deal not some J crew want-a-be prep. Old school preppy!!! |
|
Most of the "little Ivies" are really preppy. Amherst, Conn College, Hamilton, Bates, Trinity and to a degree Williams.
My D interview at Conn College and Amherst and we both noticed how preppy everyone appeared, which she liked. |
Maybe it was the day we were there or the people we assocaited with it appeared quite preppy to us. Not as much as the others though. She visited nearly all the schools above but not Babson. She ruled out Williams, way way too far and isolated. She couldnt wait to leave. She loved Amherst, Conn College and a few others not in the northeast but her dream is to attend a good LAC in the northeast and she is very preppy so that's appealing to her. |

Tenn schools.
Vandy, Sewanee, Rhodes. |
Preppy is so three years ago. |
| Princeton, Dartmouth, Wake Forest, Vandy are all excellent choices for preppy with Greek/Party scene. |
Well played! |
As good a definition as I've ever seen. |
| Tell your daughter to stand on the corner in Nantucket by the ice cream shop line on an August evening. She can just write down the school sweatshirts she sees and she will have a comprehensive list. |
