Cellar Door was in Georgetown. So was the Bayou. Never made it there, sadly. |
Wasn't Cellar Door at the intersection of M, 21st and New Hampshire, in front of the building with the Social Security office in it? Almost directly across from Lulu's (how did Lulu's not get mentioned until page 5?) Cellar Door: $5 all you can drink happy hour and the largest lighted dance floor in the city...size of a postage stamp. |
No way! I practically lived at Chaplins in the late 80s! |
Insect Club on E Street !!! |
Ha! This thread brings back memories.... I went to Tracks, 5th Column, the old 9:30 and sure, I'll admit it, the Dome now and then (always pronounced, "do me"). Anyone remember a place called Jaxx (sp.?) in Springfield, like in a strip mall? It was a headbanger place. I never went (since I wasn't a grit), but always thought it was a funny concept and location. There was like a Vietnamese grocery store in the same strip mall. Totes reminded me of the kind of place that Wayne and Garth would hang out at. |
Rumors, Mad Hatter, Gusti's..... |
Third Edition! Garrett's! Mr. Smith's! |
Met my husband at Mr. Days!!! |
18th and L. Such great happy hours in the mid 1990s too. |
Incredible meat market. 16th Street right near the Post. |

Yes--the Vault! Tracks was so awesome. Vault. Original 9:30. So grungy and small. Loved it. Laws were so relaxed. We used to go to Mr. Henry's and use a pool id (just a picture, no birthdate or anything) to get in and drink! So fun to remember these old DC places. FWIW--born in 1975. I was a in early high school when I went to Tracks! Dicey paying the guys on the street to watch the car! |
this was 1992 and 1993...amazing plastic cup drinks. |
Right near Mad Hatter and the strip club with the yellow sign. What was that called? |
It was the Cellar. I used to go there in the mid '90s. Also was a frequent visitor at Pollyesthers (between Funky and Groovy!) |
