what is wrong with HGTV?

I watch for Jonathan Scott. That is all.

I love almost all HGTV except for Flip or Flop. It is so boring and the hosts (man and wife's) are just horrible. The wife appears fake and insincere the whole time! what is great about this show? None! What do we learn from the show that we (just regular viewers) have not known already? Nothing! It is a shame having that in HGTV. Upper Fixer, in contrary, is fun and interesting to watch. The hosts and the family are such sweet people. They are great example of a nice family, great role model mom and dad. Besides, what they do ( Fixer Upper) is always amazing. Great hosts, good story, great show (Fixer upper).

"Flip or Flop" on HGTV needs to go. Now! HGTV has gone downhill since it brought in this show!

P.S. Love love love property Brothers! The transformation is always amazing!

Property Brothers is unwatchable.

I spend the entire time trying to determine which brother is more annoying - its always a push. That show sucks

Also Kenneth Brown. Great Designer.

Bang for the Buck was a good show. NOt sure what happened to that, either.

HATEHATE HATE Genevive Gorder. Man, she's in love with herself. Urgh.

THat is all. Carry on.

I got all excited when I read this, thinking "man, someone here thinks JUST like me!!" Then I saw this: 06/14/2013 11:47 . And realized I almost +1 myself from a year ago.

Methinks I need a hobby.

Me too. And even though I know Love It or List It is lame, I still find myself watching.

I watch too, but it's so damn formulaic. The woman (who has now had so much work done she is looking like a cat) is rude and always seems to overspend. Why does everyone need custom cabinets? She could save a few thousand dollars by buying premise. The guy is sleazy and creepy and is condescending about how much money people have to spend. At :11 they tour the house together and bicker, and :25 they discover structural dangers that eat the budget, at :27 the couple bicker and say Hilary is a dunce (remembered her name), at :51 David shows the perfect house out of the neighborhood and over budget. At :56 the family returns, gushes, and makes a really hard decision.

Premade, not premise
Damage not dangers
Oh, autocorrect!

I actually like Flip and Flop and other flipping shows. I'm interested in the economics (how much they put in, how much to break even) and their take on what people like. There was another flipping show, Property Ladder, that was also cool.

This show is too long!! Who has the attention span for an hour of these personalities! I would watch more if it was only 30 minutes. Show more of the renovation, only 2 alternative homes.

I'm totally sick of all their "competition" shows. I don't care how fast you are able to renovate a kitchen - or which team wins - just show me cool properties, interesting décor and realistic renovations.

Look at the end credits. The shows get big subsidies from the Canadian or provincial governments, so HGTV's outlay for content is probably pretty modest.

On Love It or List It, has "Designer Hillary" ever heard of load bearing walls or other basic house inspection items? Seems like she's always so shocked to find structural issues.

Yes! She and Desta make a floor plan and start gutting before they even figure out what's load bearing or if the county allows extensions.

Agreed. I turned on Property Brothers for the first time last week and was dismayed to find a new opening. It was much more hyper and competitive. They do good work - can't I just watch the buying and reno process without a competition or arguing?

Are you sure you were watching Property Brothers and not Brother vs. Brother (their other show)? One is a competition series and one is not.
