what is wrong with HGTV?

That was a fun show. Thom Filicia should have his own program.

Love it or List it is the WORST. Bleagh. So full of fake-o drama. And I have a friend of a friend (no, really!) who was on that program, who said that they shoot the family saying "we love it!" and also "we'll list it!" and the producers choose how it'll end, regardless of what the family actually does.

Are you serious???? OMG, that's messed up. I have to say I've become a little addicted to that show given that DH and I are trying to decide whether to renovate or move. I always guess wrong what the homeowners are going to do but now that I know it's rigged I'm pissed! In a totally "this is meaningless" way of course.

I know! I was equally "pissed" when I found out House Hunters was fake. IS NOTHING SACRED?

Another thing my friend told me about her friends' experience: one of the houses that they were show in the "list it" portion of the program was supposedly "in their neighborhood" -- except, not really. It was 40 minutes away. So it was never even a contender. And, as anyone who has seen the show has probably guessed, the producers all but told the family what to say in certain parts, to increase the drama and make it sound all contentious and stressful.

However, they said that the renovations are real, and nicely done.

I hate genovieve gorder too, she is so affected too.

and as much as I love emily henderson's blog and style, she is so cute and california sometimes that it is a bit much. but she has reasonable budgets.

Sarah and tommy are hilarious, but she always upholsters everything to within an inch of its life, and I don't have an upholsterer standing at the ready in my life. or an amazingly cute gay sidekick with an incredible design eye.

Lastly, whoever said they are hot for the Property Brothers, you are on crack. MAYBE the black-haired real estate one. But the one with highlights? NO f-ing way.

also scott mcgillivray from income property needs to buy a vowel. And get a haircut.

Our home was on an episode of Get It Sold a few years ago. I can vouch for the cast and crew being really fun and working hard (even if Sabrina does seem a little too tan and perky, she has a pretty smart ass sense of humor when she's not being recorded). It was fun and, while nothing we did really was all that shocking or a surprise or really anything we couldn't have thought of or done ourselves, I don't know that we would've bothered (or done it as well or as fast) without the folks from the show doing so much of the work.

Love it or List it 2 wit the woman from the Bachelorette has got to be the worst.

Yeah, I missed that somewhere. Why are there two versions of Love It or List It?

I miss it, too, but that was on Bravo so has nothing to do with HGTV.

Yes, I know. This thread made me think of it.

I think Thom from Queer Eye actually did have his own show for a while...

I want Sofie Allsopp (from the Unsellables) to come back with a new show. I have a weird lust-thing for her and her delicious, plummy voice.

Whatever happened to the "G" in HGTV? I don't want to see yards made into over-the-top outdoor party rooms, I want to see a show more like Victory Garden.

I want some Colin & Justin shows on HGTV. Their "How Not to Decorate" was great.

Sabrina makes so many grammatical errors that I must wonder if her shows have editors. Ugh.

General consensus seems to be: dump the fake/drama shows! Just do real life decorating and renovating and bring back some gardening.

I hope someone from Pie Town Productions reads this thread!
