Man, is it lame. I wish there was a cooler home-related channel. |
Try DIY Network. |
I have a crush on the guy from bath crashers |
I'm up for a threesome with the Kitchen Cousins. |
My mom and I were just talking about this the other day. We're wondering why everything on the show has to be a competition, like, "how fast can we renovate this kitchen??" or a major demolition job. Or alternately, nonstop episodes of House Hunters.
But then, we're boring. I'd love to see a show on small-space living, but I guess I have Apartment Therapy for that. |
I used to love HGTV. Now it's just all fake and lame. |
And way too scripted. That show "Flip or Flop" is unbearable to watch. The one "love it or List It" has the same "problems" and everyone act surprised. So lame. And of course of all the reno. shows makes it look like the work is easy, without problem or delay, and nobody seems to ever nick the walls when carrying in a counter top. |
Yep, I used to love HGTV like 10 yrs ago. Now I can't tolerate it. I'm sick sick sick of Househunters and that's the only show I will watch, with the exception of Selling New York. I love that show. |
I agree, I'm an HGTV junkie and it has gone downhill.
I used to love shows like Unsellables and The Stagers. Liked Love it or List it the first few (20) times. But I HATE the competition shows (the new Renovation Raiders comes to mind--gah!) I like shows where they take a regular homeowner, go shopping in their neighborhood or for a limited budget, and make it look awesome. I also wish I knew the source for 1/2 the stuff they decorate with, and it's so hard for them to list product placement, etc. |
It's TV. Obviously it's low-brow. |
I do like Property Brothers. They do cool stuff. |
If anyone has ever seen "Grand Designs" from the UK- that is the absolute gold standard of property shows. I would KILL to see it here sometime. |
I am totally hot for the Property Brothers.
Otherwise, I agree that HGTV is not what it once was. I miss the gardening shows they used to have. I like Househunters International, but there are only so many episodes of that I can watch! I especially hate the new show where the homeowners go out to dinner and come home to find a room renovated - that seems like a guarantee of shoddy workmanship. |
I'm a little surprised they don't have a show about downsizing. Empty nesters selling their mcmansions and looking for a condo in florida.
The other issue with HGTV is it's so bloody Atlanta-centric. Or Canadian. |
Is Design on a Dime still on? |
