Preppiest place to live in area?

Yes, it has stayed the same for BOYS, but not for women.

Post links of what you think a preppy young SAHM might wear today...in 2013...in Maryland.

Preppy fashion started in the late 1940s and 1950s as the Ivy League style of dress.[6] J. Press represents the quintessential preppy clothing brand, stemming from the collegiate traditions which shaped the preppy subculture. In the mid-twentieth century J. Press and Brooks Brothers, both being pioneers in preppy fashion, had stores on Ivy League school campuses, including Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Newer outfitters such as Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, and Elizabeth McKay are also frequently perceived as having preppy styles, with designers such as Marc Jacobs and Luella Bartley adding the preppy style into their clothes in the 1990s.[7] New York City maintains itself as the headquarters for most preppy clothing lines, such as J. Press, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren, underscoring the preppy subculture as a reflection of Northeastern culture. Examples of preppy attire include argyle sweaters, chinos, madras,[2] Nantucket Reds,[2] button down Oxford cloth shirts, and boat shoes.[2]

Ooooh, so preppy means "dress like a douche bag". I get it now.

Prep motto: less is more.

They are not flashy. It's an understated New England thing.

They are not chain shoppers.

Women are fresh scrubbed, not heavily made up. Hair is simple.

Quality over quantity. Things are bought to last. This goes with cars as well as clothes.

Worn in vs new.

Post links to images. All I'm getting from the PP is blah blah blah.

Much what my mom wore in the 60s/70s.

Look at old Jackie O on the Cape photos. Those skinny jeans, cafe pants, flats, cashmere sweaters, ribbed tees, etc.

You'd get the images immediately if it was in your blood.

It is not easy to fake. Simple gold wedding band vs huge bling-bling diamond...so not MD SAHM.

Female prepsters certainly wont wear khakis and blazers on Easter Sunday (and they won't wear Lilly either...too casual...that's summertime casual wear). What do you think a true preppy lady will wear to mass this Sunday?

A true prep lady would never go to "mass" as a true prep is not Catholic. A true prep is Episcopalian and would go to "church."

Again WASP and Prep are not the same thing.

Preps most certainly can be Catholic and many famous ones were just that.

Agreed, 22:25....and guess who wore Lilly when on vacay in Florida? Jackie O.

And my old money-friend of the Kennedy's--choate/harvard grad friend has a big rock....simple, but likely cost a small fortune. She wears skinny jeans and expensive yet simple tees and sweaters with expensive flats....

Go to mass at Holy Redeemer this Sunday for Easter and count the hair bows, seersucker suits, critter pants, and smocked dresses. You won't see Lilly Pulitzer bc that's reserved for the country club and Bethany Beach (Aka Kensington East).

Caution: you must be catholic and republican to live there (seriously)

Catholic and preppy are like oil and water.

The Kennedys nailed the Prep look. Some of the best prep schools are Jesuit. Fairfield Prep in Connecticut is a fine example.

My Dad & Brother-in-law went to Prep! And I live in CCDC

The people who live there are original owners and their adult kids who buy into the area whenever a house comes on the market. It's like Greenwich, but everyone is catholic. You just won't understand it unless you've experienced it.

Go to Easter mass and count the bows on the girls. They wear them in a certain way (top third of hair pulled to the side with a preppy bow like the ones from orient expressed).

That's parochial not preppy.

Congratulations on this utterly stupid and patently false comment. Are you always this openly bigoted and clueless?

All of my extended family lives in Greenwich (since the 60s). They are Catholic. There is a big Catholic Church there. All of my girl cousins get married in it. Lots of Greenwich Catholics.
