What if you love a house but HATE the name of the street?

I couldn't rent a house on Electric Avenue - I got the damn song stuck in my head every time I mentioned it. (Ok, I REALLY couldn't rent it because it had lots of old filthy shag carpet and smelled like cat pee, but the name was a minor issue too.)

There is a Watts Mine Lane in Avenel in Potomac. Couldn't live there because it's such a conspicuous consumption name. Yuck.

This is so great - I thought I was the only one that would consider this. There are some truly awful or tacky (or both) names. I'd be sad, but it wouldn't stop me from buying.

PS: The other "thing" I have is about house numbers with more than 2 digits - really, is it necessary to be 11051 instead of just 11 on a small street?

house numbers are designated by your geographic position in the county/city

Uck, I know. There's a road in Columbia called Coon Hunt Court, and no--just no.

In my husband's hometown, there is a "Shades of Death Road".

You are not overreacting, OP. Skip it. It will make you nuts.

I refused to look at a house on Brennon Lane because my last name is Brennan. The o just makes me crazy!! I couldn't deal with it every day.

I drive by it on my way to my parents. I find it to be the most obnoxious street name I have ever encountered

It's ridiculous and adds to the overall bureaucratic feel of this area. When we moved into our house, my mom asked me if there were thousands of houses on our street.

If you removed the "00" at the end of the number, the house would be just as easily locatable. That is how it is done in many, many other places.
