What if you love a house but HATE the name of the street?

Omg. I love this one!

I love the Awake Estates neighborhood near Sleepy Hollow (Annandale I think). So funny!

Had a friend in grad school who wanted to develop a neighborhood and name all the streets after serial killers. Bundy Court, Unibomber Lane, etc.

Nuthatch Dr, Fairfax Station

And also OP, that probably wasn't the actual name of the street, but you do realize that Ash and Lee are real words, right, and therefore using them in a name is not really tacky? Ash = tree, Lee is not only a name of a historical person and major highway in our area, but also refers to the protected area of an object. So being called Ashlee refers to a protected area.

zoom out on google maps, shape of the street holds true to it's name

OP, when we moved here, we came from another small city where the streets did not have numbers for names. I really didn't want to buy a house on a "number" street; that sounded too much like a highrise apartment building to me. I looked probably for an extra week to see if I could find something else I liked better, but I couldn't. It never mattered once we moved in.

If it is the right house, it is the right house. After a week or two the street name won't even register anymore.

this reminds me of Gilmore Girls and "Sores and Boils Alley"

Wait, what's wrong with a street named after a little bird? Is there an alternate meaning for nuthatch?

Op's question is important. Remember this will be part of her children's "porn name" for the rest of their lives.

Nut thatch? What is that, a really stretched attempt at a reference to pubic hair? That's pretty ridiculous. As in, not the first thing ANYONE NORMAL would think of. Not even in the top 10. I never would have gotten there. I thought PP was making a nut-house/ booby-hatch connection. Which would also be completely lame and juvenile and not in the least bit worrisome for someone old enough to buy a house.

Now, Hooker Street...

The only time it would give me pause was if it was something like Mansion Dr. I would hate telling people that one.

I'm so glad I am not the only one who doesn't like number streets! I told my husband while we were looking that I really did not want to live on a number street. He thought I was crazy. I also hesitated on a house that was on a named street that I really, really didn't like.

I still maintain that AshLee is tacky.
