| Just a thought: if you think having brothers is "bad", could it be that you are from a culture that values boys more than girls? Maybe you have no boys, so you are jealous? Maybe deflecting makes you feel better - but in reality, exacerbates your problems? You might want to address your own insecurities. |
wtf? My kid attended Catholic school, and there were sleepovers all the fucking time! passed around quite a bit of lice, too! yuck |
but with other Orthodox Jews, yes? |
really? also Italian - both parents, bilingual household, pasta Sundays lots of sleepovers with friends and cousins |
Michael Gardener and his wife, who by the way is sticking by him no matter what she says, is one reason why you shouldn't allow your kids to have sleep overs and I'll even go so far as play dates with strangers. http://www.wusa9.com/story/news/local/falls-church/2014/10/01/michael-gardner-child-molester-arrest-falls-church/16527679/ http://www.wusa9.com/story/news/local/2014/12/16/michael-gardner-child-molestation-falls-church/20495779/ |
| From the South, it was quite common. |
|
Grew up in NYC and it was definitely normal.
Did it several times when I was a kid and did it very often as a HS teen. |
Ack-this story upsets me, but it sucks because this is my dad's name and I hate that it comes up in this context. |
Ew. He looks like my previous very, very creepy neighbor. Good riddance! PP, we have a common name, in our country, so if one does a certain kind of search, it looks like related, but we are not. I think this happens with many different kinds of names. They may sound "unusual" to most people here, if they are not educated about the name. Not everything is found or explained on line. Don't worry about it. You have more recourse if you are mistaken. |
| You need to know the family, and not just ship your children off to strangers homes. Do you not know your children's friends' families? |
| Pennsylvania - sleepovers all the time when growing up. Normal and expected. Just part of the american culture growing up. |
Oh, I know it's not an uncommon name. It just sucks that my dad shares a name with this creep. |

I grew up in the South and the Midwest. Totally common to do sleepovers. They were really fun and some of my best memories. Everybody even had brothers -- and fathers! Gasp! No one was molested. |
