FC 22042 still has power |
| Also saw the flash of the transformer in Kensington. Street lights are out in front of our house, but houses still have power. |
I was the Tuckerman & Pike poster. Lights flickering increasingly frequently now. |
| Our house on Capitol Hill went dark for about 15 seconds-back on now though |
|
We are sleeping over at relatives in Springfield. They still have power.
Our answering machine is not picking up when we call the house... it must have lost power. I am not surprised. Our house is in Falls Church/ Mclean area and we lose power all the time. I hate living in an old farty neighborhood. |
Not our section of 22042 - we have been out since 6PM. |
Or a power pole collapses because the ground gets so saturated that the foundation of the pole gets loose enough for the gale-force winds to knock it down, or a large object is blown into a line, pole or tree that knocks the line out, or a damage to a substation, or a water main break causes the power company to shut down power in the affected area, or... There are many reasons for power outages, trees only being one (probably the most likely, but definitely far from the only reason). |
| WTOP says area outages have doubled in the last hour |
+1 |
| We just lost power so you guys are going to be on your own. Behave yourselves. |
| gulp. |
| My part of old town still has power, but seeing lots of reports of transformers blowing and outages in the del ray and rosemont neighborhoods of Alexandria. |

"old farty neighborhood" = pretty much everywhere here.
Thanks for the reality dose and laugh! |
You have an answering machine?? It's 2012, not 1992. |
