I was wondering. . .

Because we aren't transgender-ish. We like the fact we were born women and we are attracted to men.

Because they lowered my taxes and we save $600/month thanks to them. I can't afford another $600 bill per month. I guess more well-to-do liberals can though.

hah, right.

Physician married to a physician here and we both teach at local medical schools. Average tuition at GW, Georgetown, Hopkins med schools is now just under $80K/year (not including living expenses) x 4 years. Average pediatrician out of residency makes ~$100k. ~$150K for an internist. Average student at GW this year (for example) graduated with $280K debt (not including undergrad).

Unless they're at the top of their medical school class and are entering lucrative sub specialty fields, today's medical students are by-in-large screwed. They'll be paying off their medical school debt and living paycheck to paycheck until they're 65. They glory days of medicine are over. We're hoping our kids go into law or finance.

Why do some people on the jogging path I use daily take up the entire width of the path when passing someone else, instead of moving to one half of the width so that the passing person can get by on the other half? And why do the little asian ladies in my neighborhood seem to be the worst offenders?

Because they hate those abusing the system such as illegal immigrants or benefit abusers

And why do drivers stop at traffic lights leaving 1-2 carlengths of space between their own car and the one in front of them? Particularly when it means I'm right behind them and can't get into the turn lane that's opening up right next to them?

Lack of experience. They are planning on turning left and change lanes in advance. And they cannot estimate the distance (in case of stopping at car length).

I do it because of training to keep enough distance in front of your vehicle that you can maneuver your vehicle out if need be. Remember the CIA shooting at Langley? I'll try not to do it by turn-lanes from now on though.

Because my bloodhound wouldn't ever hurt anyone ever.

Yeah, I agree that many people simply are unable to estimate the size of their own car, but you are "supposed" to leave 1 car length between cars stopped at a light. You may be surprised to find out that traffic moves much more smoothly and that more cars will make it through a given green light if there is about 1 car length between stopped cars. A friend of mine modeled this during grad school (not as a thesis project, just cause he was a nerd). Ever notice how you start driving when the light turns green, then you have to hit the brakes cause you're too close to the car in front of you, then everybody behind you sees your brake lights, and so on and so forth.

Genuinely curious - those costs are to pay your salaries? Malpractice insurance? Have you ever asked WHY student are charged so much?

Also, on the bleach blonde thing. Ya know once your hair turns grey, it won't hold color (hair dye) anymore. The only alternative to grey is bleach.

Who in their right mind thinks it's okay for any candidate to take a large donation from an owner of a large company in exchange for political currency? Isn't this the definition of corruption. And why don't people notice this?

It's this little thing called the Constitution. Freedom of speech. I'll assume you've heard of it, so should I also assume you're opposed to it? Or is it that you only support speech you agree with?

What?? This might be the dumbest thing I have ever read.

I always wondered why Asians are such bad drivers.

Couldn't the subjugation of women pretty much fit into any organized religion? I didn't instantly leap to Catholicism when I read PP's post.

Uh, no. And it doesn't seem worth explaining, because you don't seem like the type to listen.

Islam? Yeah, so empowering for women. Judaism? Women can't be rabbis. Southern Baptist? Not gonna go there.
