Will students apply to medical school in hoards now that it seems graduating law school is no guarantee of financial success or social status?
hah, right. Physician married to a physician here and we both teach at local medical schools. Average tuition at GW, Georgetown, Hopkins med schools is now just under $80K/year (not including living expenses) x 4 years. Average pediatrician out of residency makes ~$100k. ~$150K for an internist. Average student at GW this year (for example) graduated with $280K debt (not including undergrad). Unless they're at the top of their medical school class and are entering lucrative sub specialty fields, today's medical students are by-in-large screwed. They'll be paying off their medical school debt and living paycheck to paycheck until they're 65. They glory days of medicine are over. We're hoping our kids go into law or finance.
