It's not rocket science. Fat/obese means rubbing thighs...no air circulating. That creates a sweaty, sour effect.

She has admitted it's not healthy. She has stated she's working on it (or will be). She is caring, funny, self-confident and has taken some pretty hateful comments with class. I think these are some admirable traits that many people living a healthy lifestyle lack. (Of course I'm painting with a broad stroke there and don't mean to include ALL.) I can decide who my today dcum hero is, and today it is op!

Seriously, the only women on here saying "you go girl," are fat also. It is completely unhealthy, not matter how great of a personality she has.

OP, I used to be self conscious too. I was always overweight as a kid and even through adulthood. I work out a lot now and there are a couple things I wish I'd figured out earlier -

1. People who work out at the gym are generally much more concerned about their own bodies than yours. Whether it's one more mile, one more rep, ten more pounds...
2. Starting out at the gym is much harder than keeping it up, in a lot of ways. The first five trips to the gym and much harder than trips 50-55!
3. Weight lifting will really make you much more confident about your body!

When I see someone who is clearly just getting started with a workout routine I want to give them a hug and a high five. I don't judge that 300 lb woman walking 2 MPH on the treadmill. I am proud of her because I know how hard it is to get started.

I really encourage you to lift weights - I have always struggled with my weight and I really started to enjoy exercise when I started weightlifting. I love focusing on what my body can DO and not just what it looks like. It sounds like you're really confident, and you'd like that aspect

Do you want a workout buddy? I live in South Arlington and you sound like you'd be fun to hang out with!

Thanks for this! I just moved to MD, otherwise I'd take you up on it. I do enjoy lifting weights. I really want to get my endurance up. I miss the energy working out gave me.

Not that I need to respond to you, but I don't eat Mc Donalds. I think it's gross. I'm now becoming proactive in losing weight, so that I don't have issues later on.

Has anyone said "you go to dunkin donuts girl"? No. I'm pretty sure it's implied, "you go on not hating what you are girl"! At least that's how I've taken the "you go" posts. Of course people are smart enough to know the health is important, but people don't have to be beaten like a dog until they are perfect.

So OP it not worthy of any admiration whatsoever simply b/c she's fat? She has admitted she's fat, she has admitted she'd like to be healthier. No one's allowed to admit that she's handling the situation with grace and humor? Her fatness transcends any other thing that's decent or admirable about her? That's pretty much what we think about fat people in this society, right? The weight supersedes everything else and she must be looked upon as repugnant.
