LOL!!! We will never agree. My dr who I saw when considering wls at HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL told me "it's not a magic pill". Yes your body will police itself if you eat bad things, but for how long? I know someone who had the surgery, and has now gained it all back. I've seen or heard about it happening a lot. Hell even some of the BL contestants had surgery before the show. I started seeing a dietician to learn proper portion sizes. You never answered my question. You had WLS to change your body, what are you going to do to change your personality?

Up to three years - certainly long enough to readjust one's eating habits. Yes, some people gain the weight back but that doesn't mean one has to gain the weight back. It's not a requirement after surgery to regain weight. And there are certainly many, many people who have succeeded.

I have never met a fatty who couldn't give the exact portion sizes that one should eat based on numerous diets they have been on.

Some people like being fat. It's their persona. They just feel more comfortable fat. You sound like you are one of them.

My personality did change - for the better. I used to have your personality - defensiveness, a million excuses for being fat, self-righteous, delusional about my actual situation, etc and so forth.

1. Every fat girl will tell you that she is starting a diet, trying to eat more healthy, starting a new way of life, doing better about eating healthy.

This is a constant fat girl refrain usually occurring right especially after a good day of binging.

Of course, what OP didn't mention is that she restarts this plan every single day with little to no progress. She might be able to go one, a few days even or if she is really good maybe for a few weeks but that's it.

2. Fat girls binge. How else do you think they maintain 300+ lb body weights? They can't maintain that kind of weight eating healthy.

3. Fat girls who say they are "foodies" are seriously delusional and use it that as an excuse so they can continue to overeat. A morbidly obese person does not need the hobby of eating. They need a hobby that does not involve food or eating. Everyone likes to eat good food.

4. Fat girls who say they don't like sweets and don't eat that many are wrong. What that really means is they may only eat 8 to 10 cookies at a sitting and eat two large things of French Fries. See to them relative to the fries, they really didn't eat that many cookies. They also don't get that normal weighted people do not view 8 to 10 cookies as a reasonable serving size to eat on an everyday basis.

5. Truly morbidly obese fat girls are pretty much wasting their time going to the gym. They are better off devoting their energy to eating right and avoiding binging. They will lose weight without exercise for quite a while. This is not true for those who are closer to normal weights.

6. Fat girls go have stink as noted above. Yes, they have chub rub and lots of sweat and there is an odor. They may not notice it themselves though. I admit it was only random that I figured it out.

7. Fat girls are not necessarily more lazy but they are more tired. It really does take quite a bit of effort to heft around 300 + lbs of body weight so even normal activities can leave a fat girl tired and winded.

8. Fat girls lower their standards in terms of dating. I did it for a long time and all other fat girls I know do it too. Same for husbands.

9. I agree with a PP, surgery is the best option for the morbidly obese. That's how I lost the weight and in the 8 years since surgery I have never once regretted it.

Um... my idea of a binge is eating most of a pint of B&Js on the first day of my period... once a month. I don't eat fast food, takeout, fried food, or many carbs, have not had a donut, etc. in years, or cake or soda other than at a party. If we go out it's usually sushi. I map Chipotle when we travel so I won't get stuck with regular fast food, and get a salad, not a burrito. My diet is mostly the so-called superfoods, prepared from scratch, heavy on the veggies for all three meals. I snack on veg, fruit and nuts and have a couple of drinks per week, max. Your comment about two large fries made me throw up a little - that stuff makes me queasy. It's a nonfood of last resort.

When I talked to a dietitian, she pointed out that I need to eat more calories to bump up my metabolism. I can't figure out how. I don't want to eat crap or stuff myself.

And yes, I'm a foodie. Quality and taste are important and that means LESS food, not more. This isn't something I've been doing for a short time. It's the way I was raised and live all the time.

I weigh 235. Go ahead. Tell me it's the Ben & Jerry's.

You are either in denial or there is something seriously wrong with you and need to see a doctor immediately.

Gosh, are you a doctor, PP? Or just an ass?

Any advice for a thin person who hates her personality because she has severe social anxiety and low self esteem? How do you get to accepting yourself as you are?

Agreed. Either you're lying about what you eat or there is a serious health issue here.

It's the Ben & Jerry's and the Chipotle and all the other crap you eat. A pint of B&J's at one sitting??? That's really gross. 1400 calories and up and of course you are eating additional food that day. That is a ton! My idea of binging on a PMS day - a half of a Hershey bar and an oreo and I feel like a pig. Clearly you have me way beat

You realize that Chipotle is fast food right? Their salads - as long as you stick with just lettuce and maybe a few pieces of chicken are reasonable - but throw in anything else and they become quite caloric. And you don't eat fast food... but you map out Chipotle's when you travel? Why? I don't map out any fast food restaurants when I travel.

Not the PP and have never eaten even a half pint of B&J in one sitting....but you sound like you have an eating disorder.

Ah, the smug thin. Like the childless offering "advice," and other folks lacking a heart to supply empathy. Enjoy your iceberg existence!

I won't tell you it's the B&Js but I will tell you that there is no way you are eating proper portions and the "right" foods or you would not weight over 200lbs. It's physically impossible unless you had a rare medical condition.

I have to agree with the other posters. Some of what you describe is healthy but with a few VERY unhealthy habits thrown in which makes me suspect you are not telling the whole truth about what you are eating or you don't really know to what extent you are eating.

Like those trying to set a budget when they don't know where their money is going, I suggest you keep a food diary. I've used composition book before (not as tempted to rip out pages I didn't like) and write down everything you eat for a week or two. Be completely honest and I bet you will see that you are eating either too much food, too large of portions at one time, or the wrong foods too many times in a week.

A pint of ice cream would make me throw up. You mention Chipotle as your go-to fast food place but it's really not that healthy unless you get a salad with all veggies and nothing else (cheese, sour cream, guac). Also, try eating 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 larger meals and possibly binging at night. Limit your fruits and fruit juices as well as certain nuts (lots of calories). Limit your drinking as well to start.

You are correct that some people limit their calories too much and the body goes into starve mode and holds on to fat, but you said this has been a long time lifestyle which can't be true. Eventually you would have lost weight if you kept you calories way below requirements for your weight.
