Congratulations! Which school is your child attending for Pre-K 3? |
"Good grief. There is no way one school "knows" that a child will be accepted at another school. My guess is you presented a certain "attitude" at the schools and they chose to accept those families where they new that their school wasn't a fall back option. Can't blame them."
If you think schools don't know if you are planning on attending if accepted - you are foolish. |
DD went to a nice but not well-know local pre-school/day care program ($15-$18 K tuition). We chose the current pre-school after being wait listed by NCRC 2 years ago. DD is 3 years old but very advanced for age (doing 1st grade math and Kindergarten reading) and is placed in a class of mostly 4 - 5 year olds at her pre-school. |
Honestly, everyone in this city has a "child doing 8th grade math and reading by 3...." - so obnoxious! |
I'm sorry 10:45, but this is so true. I don't think you're obnoxious, instead you're justifiable proud of your kid. However, now that my kids are older, I've come to realize that DC is like Lake Wobegone, and all kids are above average. |
Thank you for the information on Norwood! So nice to hear! |
LOL, the local AD's are like a sewing circle. You are naive if you think they don't network and talk to each other. They are not working in a silo. |
Since the vast majority of kids seem to score between 90-99%, does it make sense to break that category down further in the future? |
Lowell K Accept by phone

A little levity from Politico:
EMAIL DU JOUR - Subject line, "DC Bubble alert" - From a lawyer at a global firm: "[T]his is the weekend that policymakers, folks who work with PhRMA, Facebook, manage law firms, media, etc., committee Staff Directors ... [w]ork the phones and wait by the mailbox for acceptance letters from the 'Big 3' or 'Big 5' (depending on who you talk to). Ivy? No. We are talking Sidwell, Beauvoir, GDS [Georgetown Day School], St. Pat's, etc.: Pre-K and Kindergarten admissions for their kids. ... And a brutal Hobbesian jungle it is. Folks in Spring Valley, I can attest, drove around looking for the mailman on Fri./Sat. to get the mail early." |
So funny! |
